Players learn new things every day, just because certain Hero wasn't popular and OP in Dota 1 it doesn't mean it will be the same in Dota 2. Don't worry that IceFrog will nerf heroes just because someone calls them OP, but they can easily check how is certain hero doing and adjust numbers when necessary.

Actualy, Lycan shouldn't be as strong in pubs as he is in the competitive dota, because coordinated pushing strategies are pretty much non-existant there.

lycan is damn strong with very low effort and items, but so are other heroes too. the only thing i would change is his ult cd by maybe 5-10 sec at lvl 3.

lets just face it: some heroes require more skill/brain to be efficient and some require less. lycan is one of the latter. but well, make something idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot....had a lycan getting phase, midas and lothars in a game against a team full of disablers. needless to say, we lost D:

I am not a great DOTA player, but I went 18-0 with Lycan in DOTA 2 (Match ID 1040505). It may not happen every time someone plays him, but he is fairly easy to play and can get quite strong and if I can do that well with him, he probably needs a nerf...

Yep he's insane. Either you try to stop him from jungling early game, which opens you up to easy counter ganks, or get raped by Treads, Vlads, Medallion, BKB Lycan in 20 minutes. Basically you're forced to play his game, just like the earlier versions' Brood.

Edit: And he's not easy to gank either. He's naturally tanky and has a 15 (?) second haste at level 6.

There should be a mode without these monster heroes like Lycan and Bloodseeker. I don't think they are really that imba. But they require team work to be countered and that's a ressource found only very rarely in public games. I find it a little annoying that if I want to play a carry, I am forced to pick Lycan, because if I don't, my enemy does and rapes us later ... >.< (not me usually, but the other four guys of my team).
Although he seems to be quite strong, I think he is no way near invulnerable. It seems to me that his low HP pool is quite a huge weakness.

The only people that complain about a hero being imba are new players, except for the occasional fuss in the Dota community over a specific hero.

Lycan is pretty useless in team fight. He can solo 1v1 decent and push very hard. In my opinion he's really useless if someone counter him in the jungle. He won't have the core item. Lycan is not imba. Maybe you're just bad and you getting owned by Lycan by not doing such as counter pushing or counter him in the jungle. He's just so useless in team fight no one even notice that he was pushing all the way to your 3rd tier tower. As far as I know all Lycan player just push most of them time during the team fight. Lycan is just a cheap hero to win the game. During team fight 2nd tier tower down, another team fight 3rd tier tower down then barrack down and stuff. He's just pain annoying as Broodmother with her spider ling.
