There's a huge button on top of the page that says "Guides".

I think 5 games are enough to get at least decent understanding how to use refraction and meld. I think after 10 you already develop nice reflexes how to dodge difficult spells with refraction and you won't miss melds while chasing because you can estimate the maxrange. Also it's not that hard to think your items for every game. Basically the hardest question in every game is whether to get dagger or not. Fast deso really rapes the crap out of ppl if you don't need a dagger. I guess I didn't even play lanaya 40 times and I'm fairly comfortable with her. Some things which are hard to learn are tricking your opponnent into chasing you cause they think they'll kill you and then end getting killed due to juking and smart refraction and meld usage. However I don't think that you learn these just by playing lanaya lots of times, I mean you can pull off suchs with a lot of heroes it's just the experience you have and vague estimation of damage outputs and how the fights will go. For such things you might wanna play 200+ games and sometimes they still don't work out. Lanaya however is really good for driving the opponents mad. |

^These. Or you could try to play 5-10 games against real people instead of AI.

Don't play Lanaya on Ai map. It will not help you at all to understand this hero. You need to play against real opponents because the meaning of this hero is to fool the players mind.

with lanaya, you need to have a handle on every single hero, and while practicing with lanaya a few games is good enough, you really should have played enough games to know about all the other heroes first.
i probably haven't played lanaya too many times myself, but the way she plays out is different from many carries because she actually has a laning presence, is good at all stages of the game, and can outcarry some of the more popular carries late. that is, if the conditions are right (read: no DoT's) |

Fooling the player's mind? How? You clearly don't understand this hero, though I agree you shouldn't play her against ai, but that's because you shouldn't play anything against ai.

or are these half brain teams that are countering every meld+blink going to let you walk up to them? OP: just play the hero. people are going to rage. fact of dota. ignore them and continue enjoying your lanaya.

Play against pubs. It'll get you used to understanding and timing Refraction when you learn how to predict your opponents' nukes, and mindgame with Meld as well. Humans would probably wait out until you come out of your Meld and you may even have a chance in surprise-killing them with a double-Meld, while bots would just move away.

Why is this so hard to understand? Never happened to you that someone chased you with low hp and thought he would get you, but due to your refraction and meld you killed him in few hits or two opponents waiting that you show up from the shadows with the expectation to kill you but due to your meld lvl 4, you hit both in 2 hits? And my win ratio with Lanaya was/ is always high, I rarely lose games with her when it comes to pubs. I would like to know why I don't understand this hero when I get so many kills with her.

Pubs are the way to go, especially if you dont care how you do.
She isnt a necessarily difficult hero to play, so you should be fine after a few games. |

just watch replay ... my first geomancer game was perfect ... my first couple of lana game too ... if you know your role , and how to execute your main combo (and how meld , refraction , etc work) , if u watch replay , u know what item people get , in what circumstance ... yeah . go gosugamer or ... dotacommentaries .
if you cant farm dagger before 15/20 , just go phase vg deso whatever , and focus on raping support with 2 meld . but ofc dagger is core , and with a 15 min daggerless (or less , but i hate farm naked dagger) you can instagib 90 % of hero ... here u are . you are a early mid game hero .
