Defend(Active) 30 second cooldown: Increases chance to block by 25%, and armor by 5 for 3 seconds.

Last stand(Passive)180 second cooldown(Cannot be refreshed w/ orb or rearm): When hp drops below 10%, grants +10% movement speed and +10 hp regen/second for 5 seconds.


I find it frustrating that besides vanguard/heart, there's no real endgame "Tank" items in the game, so I figured I'd take a shot at one. I was contemplating making defend a toggle, but the downside to having it on is -10% movement speed.

Icon edited, totally forgot that's DK's Dragon Tail.

Well, It would be nice for weak heroes in the late game but for the strong ones.. this item will be unbalanced. It's hard to kill a Knight Davion at late game, imagine with this item.. +21 hp/reg per second when we finaly will kill? OH MY GODNESS! Good concept but null for now.

As for the Knight Davion approach, there are plenty of items that stack with other heroes' natural abilities, and there are always counters, as there would be with Knight Davion using an item like this (Doom, Guinsoo's, magic damage, Dazzle, etc.)

I like this item. I understand that DotA is about making smart decisions more than just about outlasting other players, but a tank is a tank is a tank. There is always a need for the meat shield. There is also some strategy involved with the active skill by having a 3 second duration and 30 second cooldown. It's like a mini Guardian Angel all for yourself!

Vanguard has always been a hard decision to make because of its contrasting early game usefulness and its endgame uselessness. This item provides an upgrade to Vanguard, but is also expensive enough to heavily consider the opportunity cost of upgrading, resulting in more varietal gameplay.

TL;DR:
1. Knight Davion is not as OP as you think with this. All heroes and strats have counters.

2. There is and will always be a need for the tank and sometimes playing the tank is the strategy.

3. An upgrade to Vanguard, yay! Plus, it's too expensive to just upgrade la dee da. You have to need it.

Very cool concept. Perhaps this is the alternative for defend that you are thinking about?

Defend (Active, Toggle): The hero heaves his mighty shield for a more defensive position, at the cost of decreased mobility.

Its kind of like a defensive armlet

I intentionally made it the same price as heart. I miss the good ol' HoT, so my reasoning was a definitive "Tank" item.

I think the name "Ward" is a bit misleading...on the first glance I thought its a Ward (like observer & sentry)

Maybe something like Adamantium, -Shield, -Defence, -Buckler, etc... would be better.

the icon is kinda random..for item that have Last Stand skill, the price is like having an heart so it should have cooler icon...

U also need work on Defend and Last Stand icon, so when it click or active it will shows on heroes status*

overall..luv the idea....

If you look at the above quoted post, the new icon is leaps and bounds cooler then the old one.

Also the buffs will show on the hero status buff bar, not as an active/inactive item.

This item feels too much like a half-measure to me. Even if you were axe, which I imagine is the only hero that would buy this, it would leave you significantly weaker to magic since it does nothing for HP.

And seriously effective tank items wouldn't be allowed in the game anymore, afterall the BS and HoT change were so that there would -not- be anymore tank items in circulation.

1) This item is itemized well for ANY strength-tank hero, it's a vanguard upgrade after all.
2) does nothing for hp? 300 hp is nothing for hp? Might want to rethink that.
3) Significantly weaker to magic? Any Axe who will need the magic resist can very easily farm a hood before this item.
4)@ Bolded text I just thought an awesome early/mid-game item such as vangaurd was deserving of an upgrade, if Icefrog likes the item but not the effects, he can change the effects/numbers to make it fit his master plan.
