Ok

Just shut the fuck up and deal with it. It's a goddamn forum, we have rules, if you don't like the rules then please kindly get the fuck out.

Have you bothered to read ANYTHING he's said?

First of all:

Quote:
This website is going to be an ongoing effort. The development philosophy here is similiar to that of DotA. Add basic content, get feedback, improve on it, iterate, etc. The primary development goal is to create the needed tools to empower the community to take it further. We would really like your feedback and thoughts on it.

Stop by the Site Feedback forum and help us improve the website. New features will be frequently added as requested.
If anything he's following the rules, and the ideology these forums were created on.

Secondly its exactly those rules he is questioning. As far as I see he's specifically asking which rules were followed, which moderators were consulted, and which members were polled before portfolio's were closed (yes I was one of them, yes I asked them to be closed, but that is besides the point).

From what I understand from you post you simple dislike Claire Farron, you have not bothered to read any of it, and your post is not contributing to this discussion. Disrup3 specifically created this thread for FEEDBACK, so far the only one attempting to give some is Claire Farron.

Furthermore telling someone to "Get the fuck out" on an online forum for a game we all enjoy is simply unacceptable. You attitude is horrible and YOU are what makes DotA such a pain in the ass for new members. With the release of DotA 2 there will be a lot more members coming in here, I hope you get your attitude together because new members will simply follow suite in the attitudes of the older ones. I for one really do not look forward to a 100 more "wannabe player" members with ego's the size of a mountain walking around.

Because you are a slave who know to follow every rule only and don't even realize if there is a wrong part in front of you. And you also keep focusing on every of my post which was directed to mod, aren't you? You don't have to reside on them so much, show your loyalty, show your mercy, or show that you are someone who is following whatever they want - don't be an attention whore. It won't benefit you and please don't focus on me. Get other people, I am a normal member.

You should write, "PD is a goddamn forum, they have rules, if someone don't like the rules then please kindly get the fuck out.".
The way you type and express your feeling is reflecting who you are.

Would he lie if he wrote "PD is a goddamn forum, they have rules, if someone don't like the rules then please kindly get the fuck out."?
PD is not the world, or planet earth or your country, PD is a forum owned by some people who set those rules
If you go visit a friend's house you will not sit on the tables and spit on the floor, will you?
This is exactly the same case, we are visitors here, we don't have any right other than what the rules allow us to do

That is a false analogy. First of all the moderators do not own the forums they simply enforce the rules. From what we know playdota.com wants us to contribute to the development of this site:

We are not visitors, we are members. The rules to govern us, but they also protect us. Questioning the rules, especially to understand them is not wrong,

Of course the moderators don't own this forum, that wasn't the best example but the general idea is the same
Questioning the rules is something very valid and required when a rule is not logical, but OP said he asked many members who agreed with him and as you can see the vast majority of PD hates those threads, so the members have already given their opinion on the subject
When the vast majority agrees with a rule there is nothing to question about it

OP asked a handful of members, not many. From the other end of the table we see this:

Quotes Portfolio
Funny Pictures
Jokes
Funny Videos
MS Paint Rage

as stickied and any other thread should simple fall into one of these categories. This means we can stop the function to create new threads at all?

Maybe poll would have been a more efficient way of getting to this result (I mean even I agreed with shutting down portfolio's) as it would have been open and public?

If the vast majority agree against something, for example Gay Marriage, Abortion as they did at one point did it make it right? Was slavery right when the majority agreed?

Of course, a poll would be the best way to solve it
But question is, do we even need to bother with a poll?
Because it looks like it is widely accepted that portfolios have to go
And that's exactly why comedy is an open section, so anyone can post things that don't fall under the above

But truly what doesnt fall under one of those categories? At most I see a funny hero/item concept that would do much better in DC? Maybe a troll thread thats successful, but wait those get closed?

There really isnt much else...

Well this got out of hand a lot quicker than I expected, anyway..

I have done this change because I truly believe that it is an improvement, both for the regulars and the casual visitors of this place. I am not going to disclose who I talked to, what they responded and who reported what, but rest assured that I did consider this for quite some time and the responses were thoroughly positive. Asking several hunderd or even thousands of forumers would be pointless (and frankly impossible) but compared to the traffic this subforum gets it was representative. This thread is a further indication that this change was a good one.

The reason we're not just having 5 sticky threads and everything goes there is that there are reasons to have your own thread. As an example, do you remember Zidane's headbutt in the World Cup Finals 2006? Hilarity ensued. That's also the reason why the Spiderman thread (which isn't a portfolio despite its name since it isn't used to promote a person but rather a topic) is still open.

By the way guys, please keep it civil. Everyone has a right to express and defend their opinion, that's the whole point of this thread. Thanks.

let me give you some examples
http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?t=727327
this thread, while serving the same basic function as the quotes portfolio, has an entirely different target

http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335371
this thread, while it has funny pictures, does not really fit the "funny pictures" thread, neither the jokes thread, it deserves a thread of it's own

http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100904
this thread is a fun suggestion, and gathering all fun suggestions in one thread would defeat the purpose, no?

You know, threads like these that deserve to be a thread of it's own

And talking about what should and shouldn't go to the stickied threads I suggest you sticky the "funny videos" thread as well

Although I agree with the change, it will simply kill the Zidane moments. Someone will create a new thread, will be told to go to Funny Gifs. Speaking of, I'll be right back.

You are not going to disclose anything because it's your private stuff at the back right? Then, how can your minor private conversations affect this big change? Explain to us why... You never give explanation about the change and keep defending yourself whenever I throw questions on you.
Also, I don't think this thread is indicating any good change.
Tell us the reasons of this change, how many people involved in supporting the change, etc...else, I'll assume it as fake and by own will.

And, you said that Spiderman thread is allowed because it is not promoting a person's name, rather a topic? Now, I can create a new Batman thread I think. Good!
We can have Batman, Ultraman, Ironman, Superman, Cicakman, and any man'man'man' we want because they will be a comedy topic instead of promoting a person's name.

Anyway, they have been changed for this section. As of right now, portfolios will no longer be tolerated because I feel they are used to promote one self (lots of egoboosting) and spam rather than entertain, and entertainement is the main goal of this subforum.

I have stickied some collection threads, please post your submissions there if possible and please make long posts rather than a lot of one-picture-posts (quality always beats quantity, HappyCat proved that).

This thread is open so you can discuss this with me if you wish.

Have fun!

Those spiderman pictures based on the old cartoon series are a meme, unlike any of the superheroes you mentioned.

At this point I assume that you are against this change, though you never explained why you wanted the portfolios to stay (which is the only change really), the details will flesh out in the coming couple of days, and since neither of us has a reliable crystal ball at their disposal we'll just have to wait and see.

If mods created a "funny suggestions" thread I would oppose
Suggestions are funny because you read the title and not know what to expect, seeing them in a row would be just boring
And I don't see any reason to delete a thread with it's own theme, like the troll mechanics or the moderator quotes threads
