It does not make you magic immune. Biggest difference is pure damage (e.g. Timber Chain): Magic immune units are immune to pure damage, but even 100% MR won't reduce pure damage by a bit.
The other way around for mixed damage (e.g. Techies' Land Mines): Magic immunity has no influence on mixed damage, but 100% MR will reduce any mixed damage to 0. Also, non-ultimate disables can't target a magic immune unit, but they can target a 100% MR unit. TL;DR: No, it doesn't make you magic immune. Yes, you take no "magical" damage.

Magic immunity
- can't be target of non-ult spells in the first place - no damage received from MAGIC and PURE damage spells 100% magic resistance - still able to get hit by every single spell - no damage received from only MAGIC damage. |
