Default [IMPLEMENTED][COSMETIC] Landmines (Techies)


So... landmines don't actually have an effect when they explode, the mine just plays its death animation and the units take damage.

I propose that we use this effect:

Credits to WILLTHEALMIGHTY from Hive. (Click the image for a link to the resource.)

This model makes sense because it is a "ground-based explosion", which is perfect for a land mine that's on the ground. Hell, it even sprays dirt into the air as well as fire.

The MSI from this model is minimal (~14KB unoptimized), and with the future increase of the mapsize limit, it's nothing at all to worry about.

Also, when a mine explodes in the river, I propose that a little splash graphic (like Slardar's crush or Kunkka's torrent) be added.

I was actually planning on suggesting this for his ulti (it's much bigger):



Although, we could always try using this (it's just dirt exploding... more suitable for a frag mine)

I like it but techies tends to lay several mines in one spot. With so much eye candy might it cause performance problems? However it is a nice effect and the current one is non existant.

Not if the model is preloaded, and seeing as Icefrog already does this for several other spells in DotA (invoker), I don't think this would be a problem at all.

i think it's abit too much... if you run over like 7 mines you won't see much of your hero and surroundings anymore.
but the idea of some cool animations for explosions is good

Well it's a powerful skill that does 600 damage... a few seconds of an animation isn't going to hurt.

I vote for water explosion. But I don't think that we need to get ~10KB model for just and explosion, there already is small one.

10kb before optimization is nothing. Personally I find the explosion models in WC3 to be terrible, so this is worth a few kb.
