Default The DotA Experiment

Done.

Btw what do you mean by imbalanced?

imbalanced means either too strong or too weak.

I just put on the survey that imbalanced can mean either too weak or too strong.

Good point and thanks!

It's fixed.

The research aims to discover how to satisfy the DotA community and to help Dota 2 expand in the future.

For me what is most notable in this community, at least the Playdota community, is the fact that the first though that comes to my mind when seing a thread like this is: "troll!"
Thats just sad lol

I think you forgot the part where you have to input the age btw.

I'm pretty sure a lot of your questions is very age dependant.

Excellent question.

The only reason I chose not to include a question about age is because age will probably never be a variable in DotA. Though I may run a separate survey to collect that sort of information, I believe asking someone about their age at the beginning of a survey may invoke a bias. For example, letting an experimenter know you're 15, or 24, and then proceding to answer his questions- creates a sort of self-fulfilling-prophecy where the questions you answer will be answered from the standpoint of your age group. Like in DotA, age never- if ever- is adressed. So I believe it was equally important that this study veered away from age, race, gender, etc. as much as possible.

Some questions varied from situation to situation, such as an ally telling me what to do. If they say, for example, : "push top, tower is low" or "get [item] to counter [hero]," I like the advice, but when I get something like: "fucking noob push top" or "wtf u dun have [item]" or, better yet, "uninstall wc3," I grow angry.
E: I put like 3 into skill. I suck.

I answered it. I like this kind of things. However (1-10) questions could use extra comments. Some of them really depends.

In terms of raw data, I can only share so much. Confidentiality is important and I don't want anyone who left personal information to feel exposed. However, I will definitely be posting results in a very complex graph form once completed, analyzing region-based trends, experience-based trends, and a whole lot more. (this will include a lot of raw data)

So far I've collected about 425 samples, my goal is to begin the analysis when the sample count reaches around 1,500.

I will also be publishing a lengthy article analyzing the results with community feedback and help. As I said earlier, complexity is of utmost importance in this study. Everyone who wants to be credited will be listed on the publication and the survey results as well.

I was adding "GosuGamers" as an option to the community-based questionnaire. Sorry about that, it should be working now.

Note: this will not corrupt the study. I will just be adding the posts under the 'other:' section that listed "Gosugamers" to its respective percentile.

I'm not sure why it's down at the moment. I will try and figure out why and post an update when it's up and running again.

Thank you for letting me know!

Edit: Server is back up, thanks again.
