Default [REMAKE] Syllabear


Here's one big motherfucker of a suggestion. The bigger a suggestion is, though, the more problems it potentially has, and thus I'd like it if people could post constructive feedback when they find problems so I can try to solve them. Thanks.

By the way, if you TL;DR it, don't post at all.

Syllabear:


I find the current Syllabear to be a little imbalanced and his concepts are a bit broken. First of all, the spell Synergy is not the kind of synergy we want in DotA at all; it's very forced and, in my opinion, completely breaks the hero. Let's take a look at some of his skills:

Spirit Bear remains unchanged.

Rabid:
Syllabear can create an intense combative fury in himself and his Spirit Bear Companion.

This spell is sort of like Strafe in the sense that when Syllabear has this buff on, he's very powerful, but when it's off, he's much less powerful. That concept itself is fairly weak, but the fact that Synergy allows Syllabear to keep this spell on 100% of the time; it may as well just be a passive, but passives are very boring on a hero like Syllabear, imo. So, let's try reworking some aspects of the spell to make it suit Syllabear's role a little more, and give it a better name.

Primal Fury:
The power of the wild runs rampant in Syllabear's veins. Unleashes Syllabear's feral rage on his enemies, greatly increasing his offensive capability for a short duration.
Level 1 - 20% AS / 5% MS
Level 2 - 35% AS / 10% MS
Level 3 - 50% AS / 15% MS
Level 4 - 65% AS / 20% MS
Lasts 12 seconds, 100 mana cost, 36 second cooldown.

This gives the skill a buff in terms of the bonuses it applies to Syllabear, but the shorter duration and higher mana cost causes the spell to be used more strategically in order to maximize its potential.

Synergy:
Increases the Lone Druid's synergy with his Spirit Bear and himself with each level, upgrading spells.

Now, since Synergy must be changed due to its effects on Rabid/Primal Fury being removed, let's take a look at this skill which is, in my opinion, a complete mess. It's basically forced synergy with Syllabear's other spells, a bit like a free scepter or just a better version of stats. I've decided to change this to a new passive that will help Syllabear just as much, but in a way that fits his role with the bear better.

Fellowship (pas):
Syllabear and his bear companion share a bond like brothers. When either one of the two is hurt, the other will enter a rage to defend his companion.
Level 1 - Below 30% health, +30 damage
Level 2 - Below 40% health, +45 damage
Level 3 - Below 50% health, +60 damage
Level 4 - Below 60% health, +75 damage

This follows the same concept of adding damage to Syllabear and his companion, but it adds more damage, and only when one of the two is damaged. If both are below the health requirement, both will receive the bonus. If you compare the numbers to Synergy, this skill gives +30/45/60/75 when below the health requirement, whereas Synergy gives +10/20/30/40 all of the time as well as improvements to Syllabear's other skills.

This makes Syllabear more inclined to let his bear tank while he sits back and throws axes, as well as making enemies less inclined to rush the hero because then the big bear will get +75 damage as well as his root. Either way, it keeps Syllabear and his spirit bear as a devistating duo, but it feels a little more right to me.

Furthermore, it gives attacking enemies a reason to switch targets when one of them drops below 50% because they want to take out the one doing the most damage, thus keeping the pair alive for longer. That probably won't work on most upper-level players, but you never know.

Thoughts? I'm willing to change anything if given a good enough explanation.

Do you have to change the colors of the bear if it has basically same skills/upgrades?

I think just makes it to one color or makes it to have 3 colors but gets different upgrades as color changes (like davion)

Well, T-Up for first skill change

For 3rd skill, I suggest more things than just adding damage. I think adding hp or hp regen or giving life steal is better since Syllabear usually does jungle....

This remake also attempts to give Syllabear some early game laning/ganking capability.

Anyways, Syllabear doesn't need lifesteal or regeneration because he can get those from items. I might consider adding something else, though.

I do like Primal Fury and Fellowship. <3 Fellowship.

But your new ult is a little meh in my opinion. It seems more like a hardcore nerf to him, as its basically the health of the previous bear with a bash attached; for 10/90 seconds. I loved the new ult as it basically turned my Silly Bear into a new hero, but not until I needed to (I farm the forest till level 16, went perma-bear at 11)

with the primal fury is even more IMBA

That's the goal of this remake, though. Farming the forest is really really lame imo and detracts from team gameplay at the early stages of the game.

He's versatile as he is now. You can lane with him or farm the forest (And I personally like farming the forest and participating in ganks in bot/mid lane) so I don't think changing him just to take that aspect out is at all useful and just annoying to those that do forest as a primary playstyle on Silly bear.

I'd rather keep the current drood.

Totally t-up on the Fellowship, it will bring even more confusion to enemies on who to attack first and who deals less damage etc. Primal rage looks a little boring though, we have a lot of IMS and IAS spells in the game... But I guess it fits his theme so meh. I didn't understand though, can he also cast this on the bear? or do you activate it and both get the bonus? if its only on himself, 36 seconds cooldown seems a bit high. Perhaps make it 30 seconds, and when you cast it on yourself, after the 12 second duration, you get a buff similiar to mekansm (you cant cast it on yourself again) for 18 seconds. It won't become permanent, but at least you can cast it on yourself and the your beloved lil' bear =) Though I like the over-all suggestion.

I enjoy fellowship a lot and I think it really fits the theme of the hero.

The other skills alittle lackluster. I doubt you can make the skill very interesting without putting it through a big change.

T-up for Fellowship but keep in mind that the Bear will need that extra MS from the old Synergy skill. Other than that, it is much better than boring Synergy.

Fellowship should give the bear IAS instead of damage, which would cause him to root his enemies more and present a bigger threat, enabling sylla to pound on the enemies.Other than that, no further comments, except that i like the remake.
