FRAGILE BUT DEADLY

INTRODUCTION
This guide is not actually a 'guide', I just made this thing up out of boredom.

HERO INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND STORY:
Born into the reclusive Night Elf order known as the Wardens and shunned by mainstream Night Elf society, Mortred pledged allegiance to the Scourge to take revenge. A perfect blend of strength and speed, the years spent alone in the forests of Ashenvale allowed her to blend into the terrain, appearing phantomlike at times and striking when you least expect it. The deadly precision with which she carries out her attacks has made her a valuable member of the Scourge, and it is clear why she is known as the Phantom Assassin.

PROS:
+ Low mana costing skills
+ High agi gain
+ Late game god (if used properly)

CONS:
- Fragile early game
- Item dependant
- Vulnerable to disables and nukes due to low health

WHEN TO PICK:
* No carries in your team yet
* When you don't enjoy pushing too many buttons (like me).
* When reliable initiators are present.
* Just for FUN

WHEN NOT TO PICK:
* Enemy team has a lot of disablers/nukers

**The "when to/not to pick" doesn't apply in every game you use Mortred. It's just a matter of using your smarts to get over tricky situations in the game.

SKILLS:

Hurls a dagger which deals minor pure damage and slows the unit's movement speed for a short duration. Deals half damage to heroes.
Level 1 - 40 damage, 50% slow for 1 second
Level 2 - 80 damage, 50% slow for 2 seconds
Level 3 - 120 damage, 50% slow for 3 seconds
Level 4 - 160 damage, 50% slow for 4 seconds

Notes
• Damage type: pure
• The projectile can't be dodged by blinking.
• 8 Second Cooldown on all levels
• 15 mana cost at level 4

Level 10 - Blur/Coup de Grace
Level 11 - Coup de Grace
Level 12 - Blur
Level 13 - Blur
Level 14 - Blur
Level 15 - STATS
Level 16 - Coup de Grace
Level 17> - STATS
Stifling dagger and phantom strike are your only active skills and are the most helpful early game. Phantom strike is you're escape mechanism early game while stifling dagger holds as your other option for creepkills. Both skills help a lot in pretty much everything especially surviving all the while going for the items you need to be useful in the team later on. Your ultimate should be taken on later levels due to Mortred's low damage. Blur should be maxed out after SD and PS, and before level 16 to be more effective in team fights and ganks. STATS wouldn't really be a priority since Mortred is item dependent but taking one could be an option before or after maxing out blur.

ITEM BUILD

Three ironwood branches, a quelling blade and two sets of tangoes are pretty much what mort needs to survive early game since you'll be laning with a buddy (Yes, Mortred can't solo lane due to obvious reasons).

I really don't have to list the rejected items since players are intelligent enough to know what they are. Go for the core before you fool around.
STRATEGY

SURVIVE
Always go for the lane where most neutrals are close; bottom lane if you're sentinel or top lane if you're scourge. Kill and deny as much as you can and keep the enemy as close as possible to your tower.
If the enemy comprises of nukers or you're just getting harrassed too much then use dagger to get creepkills. Phantom strike is your escape mechanism for enemy ganks so don't use it to creepkill.
After your starting items, aim for the following items

Do not get MoD yet since you have QB which don't stack with each other
If you can't hack it, go for some of the following
The items above provide survivability.
Before or starting midgame, you should have all or most of the following items.
Even with HotD, QB is still useful in farming due to the fact that you can still cut trees with it, making easier access on other creep sites and a counter for this guy if he's the enemy.

FRIENDS AND FOES

These are some heroes best to be with early game and with some IMAGINATION or a set of images below you can make a defensive play a little offensive

(FUN if you survive)
OMNIKNIGHT and PHANTOM ASSASSIN:

Mort goes in buffed with repel and gives the enemy hell. Enemy retaliates and as Mortred's buff dies down Purist comes in to heal her (moderate chance you'll kill the target and enemy creeps surrounding Mortred).

UNDYING and PHANTOM ASSASSIN:

Dirge spams the enemy with decay and with enough stacks Mortred comes in and attacks the target. Either Mort gets healed or Dirge kills the target with soul rip.

SHADOW PRIEST and PHANTOM ASSASSIN:

Mortred starts off with a dagger and blinks on the target. As the slow wears off Dazzle throws poison touch and heals Mort causing additional damage on the target. Shadow wave works better if more allies are close to the target. Finally, getting the kill or not, Dazzle casts shallow grave on Mortred on a worse case scenario she's dying and enemy creeps and/or an enemy hero keeps pummeling her.

* I didn't try any of these yet. Just let me know how it turned out

ITEMS THAT COUNTER PHANTOM ASSASSIN

Cant attack? Try activating BKB; you might be useless but invulnerability from physical and magical attacks will keep you alive.
FUN WAY: Buy eul's and cyclone the enemy or yourself. By the time cylcone wear's off, no more ethereal form.

FUN WAY: Eul's

Go for BKB or satanic and keep on attacking.
FUN WAY: Eul's or guinsoo.

You're the last to attack. by the time the enemy notice you and choose to blink he'/she'd be dead.
FUN WAY: Burn them with radiance and prolong the agony atleast until Mortred's crit sets in.

Map awarness is your friend or one of your allies just knows how to counterward.

* I pretty much countered every possible item that counters Mortred. All counters for the items are theoritical.

CLOSING STATEMENTS
Well, that's pretty much what I could think off about this hero. Thanks to The_Juggernaut™ for the formats. The image is from Polyraspad from deviantart.com
