1.INTRODUCTION & FOREWORD

Lycanthrope is a very very powerful hero if used thinking yourself as if you are a BIG Dog while playing. He in wolf form, has the maximum movement speed in DotA(without any inventory), Also he is among the fastest in attack speed in his wolf form. All in all, I believe that Banehallow is truly made for tearing heroes a$s apart... He is the best backstabber in the game in most players opinion. He has the speed of an AGI hero,while having the HP of the strength hero. Obviously, all his skills are useful to him and benefits him in many ways. In this New guide, I will tell you all the things that you need to know in order to own the game with Lycanthrope. So therefore, I bring you a guide to Banehallow, the Lycanthrope.





2. THE HERO

PLAYSTYLE

As you now know that Lycanthrope is one of the best chaser of all times in DotA, you can kick anyones As$ with ease. Just take help of your doggy like wolfs and start running and bitchoff the enemy till death!

Banehallow the Lycanthrope focuses on sudden, swift attacks. He can often be found lurking the forest with his wolves, then suddenly bursting forth with a dread howl, chasing down and killing fragile enemy heroes. His wolf companions are deadly fighters, and are capable of dealing a lot of damage on their own. They are also excellent at helping the Lycanthrope kill neutral units, allowing him to get a lot of gold without letting enemy heroes know where he is. While hidden, the Lycanthrope can use his Howl ability, which infuses all allies across the map with extra damage. Feral Impulse grants sizable damage and attack speed bonuses to both Banehallow and his summons. When he deems the time is right, the Lycanthrope transforms into his wolf form with Shapeshift. While shapeshifted, no enemy can outrun the Lycanthrope and his wolves, and he gains bonuses to his hit points, attack speed, and a critical strike. There is little his victims can do against such a monster, since there is nowhere to run. The only hope is if they have a champion capable of defeating him in combat.






Banehallow is an avatar of bestial fury created by the scourge. For years he has dwelled in the dark forests of the world, hunting innocents that wander therein. Now he is called to aid his masters. He revels in blood and battle, using his wolfish persona to draw the feral beasts to his side and imbue his allies with his flesh-shredding strength. He is also unnaturally quick and agile. Some say he can even transform into a giant wolf, giving him more durability and the speed to gouge and maim with near impunity.

Summons 2 Spirit Wolves to fight the Lycanthrope's enemies.

Notes
• If wolves are summoned during the duration of Howl, they will receive the damage bonus until the duration is up.





Howl

* Ability Type: Active

An eerie loud howl grants an inner strength to all player controlled units.

Notes
• Affects all allied player-controlled units, not just those under Lycanthrope's control.





Feral Impulse

* Ability Type: Passive
* Targeting Type: N/A
* Ability Hotkey: I

Increases attack damage and speed of the Lycanthrope and his units.

Notes
• Affects all units under the Lycanthrope's control, not just himself and his wolves.





Shapeshift

* Ability Type: Active
* Targeting Type: Instant
* Ability Hotkey: F

A Full Moon curdles the blood of the Lycanthropy. He transforms into a Wolf with extra hit points, Critical Strike, and increased attack speed. This gives him and his units the ability to move at a constant maximum speed and not be slowed.

Notes
• Cannot be slowed by any spell, including Purge.
• If hexed, Lycanthrope continues to move at maximum movespeed.
• Lycanthrope's collision size is lowered in this state.
• While in this state, Lycanthrope will have a Base Attack Time of 1.4 seconds.

Critical Strike


Gives a 30% chance to deal 1.5 times your normal damage.

Notes
• Only available during Shapeshift.

5. ITEM BUILD

Starting Items



A magical salve that can quickly mend even the deepest of wounds.
As an melee hero, you will face lots of damage early game especially if there is a ranged enemy hero/heroine like Sniper/Drow.



Deluxe version of Brass Knuckles.
Yup, every strength heros need. Helps Lycanhrope to deal more damage. Get two of them because wearing on both hands makes you handsome.



An elegant circlet designed for human princesses LOL!
Good to increase your overall stats early game and dont forget the Mana!


ULTIMATE START FOR LYCANTHROPE

This build is the best starting build for him as he gets Mana Aura (passive) + Armor Aura (passive) & +6 damage.
This is excluively recommended at start as you will be able to summon wolves(dogs) at a suprising quick time giving you to farm fastest than ever from the beginning making you the true killer in the late game.



Ring given as a reward for Lcanthrope to seduce his dogs which makes them to spawn earlier for the fun scene and some good time licking the enemies for a good a appetizer start.



Just incase there is a need urgently. Mostly needed when you are stunned and the HP goes below *50%*


Core Items



A decorated wrist band. An upgrade to Gauntlets of Ogre Strength & Circlet of Nobility. Getting 2 of them is enough.



Name brand sneakers. Switch It to strength for more damage(good for your Ultimate)



If you see closely, you will know that its matches the pose with the hero of the 'PROTOTYPE' Game. Lycanthrope loves this game and wishes to pose like this. So give him what he wants and watch him fucking all enemies Ass. Boy-o-boy, the enemy feels like a hell of lava in their holes! XD



A gem that grants heart to the bearer. Get this as fast as possible to enjoy Mini HoT facilities(I mean HP regeneration) + additional mana regeneration TOO which enables you to spam dogs whenever you need them. ah, the wild lickers HAHA





LUXURY Items



Boots that are enchanted by the fairy magic. Sell Power Treads & get this for better game control.



Lycanthrope becomes a powerful killing machine. Upgrade Perseverance to this for a Kick A$S!



Preserved heart of an extinct monster. Bolsters the bearer's fortitude. No you can stop you!



When attuned by the moonlight of Tir'nogth and used together, Lycanthrope will do anything for it! There has been a lot of Controversy about this item for Lycanthrope. Some of the players think that this item is partially WASTED because of Lycanthrope's Ultimate Ability & Yasha's movement bonus speed. Take a calculator & start doing sums(for those who argue). Don't have brains? Let me explain! Lycanthropes movement speed is 305 when you select him from... . ohh comeon you know what I mean! You buy Boots of Speed increasing his movement speed from 305 + 50 = 355. You upgrade it to Power Treads which becomes 305 + 60 = 365. AT late game you sell Treads and buy BoT getting 305 + 90 = 395. When you make SnY, you get a total combined Movement Speed of 448!! That's what I want to prove(I mean that nothing is wasted). The other reason to take SnY is... IMAGINE if you are chasing a hero in shapeswift and he is a tanker(like SPEEDY balanar at night). After sometime your ultimate period is over!! what next??? you cannot chase him at all after that and you will sadly lose a kill! but when you have SnY, with the bonus Moventspeed , you can continue to chase him an kill him like as if Balanar is just a toy. I know you got a kick to your head. NOW if you still say that his MS gets wasted then YOU ARE A RETARD PERSON! & your treatment is necessary!! Get some sleeping pillsTest your eyes, TEST : Get him(Lycanthrope) and don't buy anything(inventory) till level 6. Activate your Ultimate ability and check his Movement Seed, it will be 522!!! I hope you don't open your mouth telling that your Boots of Speed gets WASTED TOO. If you still argue in my comment box, then you are a BIG TIME SHIT!!

Situational Items



A powerful rod imbued with the strength of giants. Gives 10 Strength & 24 damage + Avatar(active). Its a must for a hero like lycanthrope! I know that you might be thinking that "why I need to get this 'Noob Skull' BKB?". If you are intelligent player, you would know that while Lycanthrope's Shapeswift is activated, he cannot be slowed but still can be STUNNED! with full effect of the enemy's stun time, making you to lose a kill and frustrated like shi^. When you have more enemy stunners like Vengeful Spirit, Sladar, Tiny, Barathrum, etc. they are likely to target you to get stunned to save themselves or their allies. Activate this when you chase enemy while your ultimate ability is activated. Ya you know there is atleast 2 kills for sure :P



A powerful weapon, used to Bash skulls in. go gO GO!!! Chase your enemies like hell till they get bashed till death.



A wicked weapon, used in torturing political criminals like Osama bin Laden. It hungers for blood and Lycanthrope is a blood sucker!



When IceFrog made Buriza in .08 it was good. Then he decided it wasn't good enough. So in .09 he IMPROVED it. Combine with ULTIMATE = AHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhh



This magical sphere once protected one of the most famous heroes in history. BKB not enough? Linkens is the best item for those annoying stunners. Not getting stunned while backstabbing means a lot to a hero like Banehallow(Lycanthrope).



This Mask looks so strange that it drives you insane. This item is really good for Banehallow. It is the perfect tool to complement your backstabbing capabilities. Don’t be afraid to buy this if you are having a hard time backstabbing.



Heirloom of the Cult of Mordiggian, this item allows Lycanthrope to cross his limits by exchanging his life force for unholy strength.
NOTE: His summoned dogs do not get any benefit from it.



Powerful weapon said to have been wielded by Drak'thul himself. This is a GREAT alternative to HoT! With your Imba Attack Speed(AS), you can be like N’aix Feasting on enemy! Lma0





Rejected Items

You can buy this items. They are good, effective and killer... but for Lycanthrope, its a sack of rotten $hit!



6. COURIER AND WARDS

Never get courier especially WILD Pig(fel boar) because Lycanthrope's wolves hate him like hell because of his ugly voice which makes them feels as if he is teasing themwhich makes them angry which results in death of your courier by their critical strike and make you looking like SHIT losing all your gold LOL! Warding TOO has somelike same reason because when Lycanthrope buys, e.g. Sentry Ward or Observer Ward, while he tries placing it in the ground, his naughty Wolves start acting like Dogs & starts byting the Wards which makes them Disabled and useless LMAO! Then don't come crying to me telling that your gold is wasted and you lost the match HEHE
So I suggest you not to take risks in Tournaments & battles or you'll lose :P





7. EARLY GAME STRATEGY

Always go to the top lane for Sentinel and the bottom lane for Scourge. This lanes are the best lanes for backstabbing and you will be more protected from ganks at these lanes. I RECOMMEND to take a ranged Hero with you especially an Agility one. Play as a normal Melee Hero and farm to level 6 as fast as possible. As you are done level 6, start searching for your pray taking support of your allies always. Never DARE to go alone in early game thinking that you have 2 wolves like your allies. That will not gonna help you anyway. Mostly in Pubs I see players go alone roaming to get a kill, but they reach to their base in RED HP wasting their time of precious farming. Getting a kill is easy with your allies in the rune areas and I am sure, you as a Best chaser, have an excellent ability to backstab and kill!





GETTING GANKED

If your alone and anywhere e.g. Neutral farming(creeping) and you see 3-4 monsters running towards you like earthquake showing their big balls, don't try to catch those big balls for a chance to rip them apart lol, activate your ultimate and RUN near your allies, good HP tower or your base!! If your GirlFriend is watching this, Don't think of what she feels about you running like COWARD in this situation. If she becomes sad, tell that you LOVE her and give a 15 seconds smooch & hey DON'T GO FURTHER. Just tell her to bring a and play COOL.





8. MID GAME STRATEGY

By this time, you can start spamming your wolves mostly as you have made Vladmir's Offering & Perseverance. You can go to kill Roshan by now and he will serve you with AEGIS of the IMMORTAL(you know what I mean right??? lol). Making a BKB is a must if you are facing a lot of trouble killing enemies due to their stuns, ganks, etc. Its a sure kill when you have a stunner with you. Tell him to stun the enemy till then you Summon your wolves & start biting the enemy. He gets half murdered till then. when he starts to run, activate your ultimate and run behind with your wolves like a mad dog who has RABIES and bite his ass and rip his Flesh apart till you don't see his bones inside. LMAO, Don't bite me, I am your Master!! hehe



How to kill Roshan - The Mighty GIANT
As I told above, Vladmir's offering is the main core item which makes you able to kill him. First summon your mighty ADULT DOGS(level 4), then command them to attack Roshan. As he starts to punch your dogs, immediately go inside the fight. The reason to do this is to take minimum damage from him. Always remember, You are important than your dogs!
If you don't make this item, then you are a Dumb ^$$!! + you cant kill Roshan without help your of allies.




9. LATE GAME STRATEGY

At this final stage, you mostly stay with your allies and gank in team as it helps to kill all enemies mostly in every game. By now you must have Battle Fury, HoT and SnY which will make you very strong and hard to kill with your escape abilities. Don't run for Cranium Basher if you have good stunners and stoppers like Vengeful Spirit, Tiny , Murlock Nightcrawler, etc. Its a show time when you join your allies and support them. The enemies get a feeling of more chances of losing when you show your bloody face to them.




10. GENERAL RUNE STRATEGY

You feel to kill fast? Get the rune to do this job faster. You have 2 dogs hungry like beggers hahaa, so why dont you summon them to search for runes insted of starving to death. One of the best example I an give to you is by sending them in two rune spawning spots at the same time. Is this possible? HELL YEAH! When you pick this hero at the starting of the game, select the first ability and summon those small puppies. Select one of them and send her to the top rune location and immediately select the other one and command him to go to the bot rune location. This way you can surely know where the rune spawns and then when you see the rune, signal at that location so that the nearest ally can pick it. You have to be quick otherwise the enemies will take it. Mostly I saw this in many pubs that when enemies come at the rune location, the team in which there is Lycanthrope is likely to get First Blood because of his wolves in the rune areas.



Rune Tips

Everything except the Regeneration rune needs strategy.


Double Damage
Get this the most for a sure instant flesh meal. Summon wolves, Howl and then start running. When the targeted enemy starts to run, activate your ultimate ability and continue running behind him till he dies. Its better that you call atleast one of your ally(stunner if you have) to handle this rush momement and come home in with bloody hands! lmao.




Illusion
Take it at all costs because you can kill a full enemy team in team battle with ease. You will have a big wolf family when you take rune in a shapeswift form. 3 giant wolves with 2 big summoned wolves. Imagine if you have Manta Style. You will have a huge wolf family with 5 giant wolves and 2 summoned wolves!! This is crazy.




Invisibility
Take it and give your enemies a good old death suprise. Make them cry till death by spitting on their face like idiot madman. Ah, feel the wicked Banehallow's nature in you and show who's the Legend Killer.




Haste
Let your ally take this and feel the true speed of your Shapeswift. The reason not to take is simple because if you take this, the movement speed gets wasted(when Shapeshwift is activated). Your team has a better chance to win because they will be like a second Lycanthrope(for the movement speed).





11. ULTIMATE TIPS & TECHNIQUES

The right way to Farm

Many times I saw that most players don't know the perfect way to farm. You can farm fron level 1 onwards. Ya just find the low level neutral creeps located mostly on the botton sside of Sentinel jungle and on the top side of the Scorge jungle. You have to do the same way as I have stated the method to kill Roshan. It is the same for the lane creeps too. If you face damage when farming from creeps, the its a matter of shame for you hehe. So let your dog do the bitchy job and you just think of planning the strategy on how to be the Ultimate Hitman.



Don't run away!!

I hate the players who run away if their HP is half especially from heros like Agility & Intelligence. ComeON, you are a TANKER!! If you have made Vladmir's Offering early, then dont runn away from fights because by doing this you are actually losing a kill! Agility heros cannot do any more damage than you if you dont waste time. Running back then come again thinking of attacking them is a foolish scene I find many times in the pubs. Insted of doing this Dunb Fuc* act, GO catch enemies ass before he tries to aim the bow at you.



BREAK their Self confidence

You are one of the RARE heros who can farm very quick and level up as fast as possible to keep your pressure on the enemy. You have the advantage to get rid of almost any agility hero and Intelligence heros as well. They lose their self confidence when you show our agressive nature by attacking them first and continue to attack them till they run for their bloody dead 'Half Life' body and you suddenly activating Howl + Shapeswift to end their heart beat and then R^ping them nud3. But when it comes to a Strength hero, its time to call the help of your allies. So don't be shy to hit the 'ENTER' button and call for "HELP!". Always remember that you have been blessed by Vladmir's Offering to kill more than one agility hero at a same time so everything's up to you now.



FIGHT DIRTY!!!

Always participate in team ganks. Don't keep farming when your team needs you in 5v5 battle. You are the true Dog(hero lol) and a perfect chaser in team fights. Always stay safe by sending your dogs in front of battle as if they are your melee soldiers. Catch the nearest enemy rather that chasing for the far one. Remember one thing that "NEVER BLOCK YOUR ALLIES!"
