Torment around me. Torment in me. Torment be with me. And let us conquer our foes. They do not understand our pain. Do you? No. Not a soul can. And for that, We shall make them feel the torment... The torment that inhabits my soul.
Guide Introduction:
Welcome to my Lesh's guide. Lesh is one of mFy fav hero for his AOE play style and for its ease to push so i decided to write a guide to him. I noticed that there are not very many guides to lesh. This guide is also not meant for competitive use as I do not play competitive dota. There are some few notes i want to share with people that will read my guide:
• Optimized for guide version.
• Feel free to comment about anything, item build, skill build, etc.
• Most likely lesh fanboy.
Note: As you guys can see, Leshrac got a very shitty base damage which will make some bad time with lasthitting against average player, you have Lighting Storm to solve that problem. Your armor isnt that good nor bad, you have 600 range you shouldn't be diving in your enemies at early levels anyway. For a hero that should be always near the enemies and begin focused you have a pretty low base strength and str gain. Your somewhat good agility solves some of the problems of your low hp at least against physical/mixed damage. Your int can sustain your skills with no problem with the exception of your ult at early levels.
Note: Assuming Boots of Travel, Shiva's Guard, Bloodstone, Scythe of Vyse, Heart of Tarrasque and a Black King Bar are in your invetory.
6.72 - Pulse Nova AoE from 400 to 450 and move speed from 310 to 315.
6.71 - Fixed Pulse Nova sometimes turning itself off after getting hit by certain ability types
6.71 - Diabolic Edict is no longer reduced by damage block items(Stout, Vanguard, etc)
6.70 - Split Earth damage increased from 70/140/210/290 to 120/180/240/300
6.70 - Lightning Storm cooldown reduced from 6 to 5.5
6.70 - Diabolic Edict no longer uses cast point
6.70? - Diabolic Edict no longer shows where the explosions are happening
6.69 - Pulse Nova AoE increased from 300/350/400 to a constant 400
6.68 - Split Earth stun duration increased from 1.25/1.5/1.75/2 to a constant 2
6.67 - Split Earth cast range increased from 650 to 750
6.67 - Diabolic Edict cooldown reduced from 30/28/26/24 to 22
6.67 - Visual effect now properly shows on Scourge towers
6.67 - Fixed Diabolic Edict considering invulnerable buildings as valid targets and wasting some hits
6.65 - Movement speed increased from 300 to 310
6.59 - Decreased Lightning Storm cooldown from 7 to 6 seconds
6.51 - Improved the effect timing on Split Earth
6.50 - Increased Lightning Storm's cooldown by 2 seconds
Note: Since 6.50 you have faced so far 1 nerf(well 2), which was in Lighting Storm, after all you got nerfed .5 seconds Cd on Lighting Storm. Split Earth got some buffs to compensate the stun delay such as a casting range increase to help against fleeing targets, reduction in its time to landYea, Split Earth took more time to land than now, a stun rescale to always 2 seconds stun and a damage buff which is never bad. A handy Ms to chase with Diabolic Edict and Pulse Nova. The best buff Diabolic Edict seen so far was the negation of damage block abilities because a PMS could reduce it's effectiveness to less than 50%, removing invul structures from targets was very useful when you are at tier 3 towers, the Cd reduction was very nice, removal of cast point which made it alot better at chasing and nerf that doesnt shows where the explosions are happening, disabling your chase against inv heroes. Pulse Nova got a hell damn buff in the last version, now, nothing can stop it(except mana), and a Aoe rescale to always 400. Once again lesh got AoE buff in Pulse Nova, now to 450 at all levels and another buff in Move Speed(315) to help chasing and fleeing.
Leshrac is a Aoe Monster, all of his skills are focused to deal Aoe damage, His first skill is Aoe stun with a fairly damage, his second deals more damage if the target is isolated, his third is good pushing tool and his ultimate is why you are so powerful in team fights, his most painful skills are the only ones that needs lesh to be near to target to take full effect, thus making him vunerable.
When to pick:
• Your team needs a Aoe potential hero;
• Your team is using pushing strategy;
• When You like to be the Humble Gentleman;
• When you like to be a pew pew pew hero that arrives exploding everything nearby;
• When you like to be ing.
When NOT to pick:
• When enemy team have ghostbusters(Aka Lion , Rhasta , Lina);
• When enemy team have those pesky silencers(Aka Lucifer, Krob, Drow);
• When you dont like to be the Humble Gentleman;
• When you dont like to be ing.
Pros:
[+] Above-average movement speed.
[+] Huge AoE damage potential.
[+] Ghost.
[+] Amazing lane control with proper mana regen.
[+] Queen Of Pain is your Queen and you loves her.
[+] Good farmer due to Lightning Storm.
Cons:
[-] Pew pew pew paper
[-] Item depent to be affective.
[-] Split Earth isn't a newbie friendly skill.
[-] Ghostbusters loves you.
[-] fragile and susceptible to be focused.
[-] Needs to be in heat of battle to Pulse Nova be effective, thus making him to be the target.
Justification: One level of Split Earth until level 10 is enough as the stun is always 2 seconds and the AoE increases only 25 per level. Maxing Lighting Storm for lane control, keep in mind that it have 5.5 seconds cooldown, you can take things like npnp as long you have mana. Diabolic Edict will ensure your one on one fights and your tower kills. Then max Split Earth. for last but no least Pulse Nova. Then you know, use those extra skill points on something, just sayin. By level 7, you can have 265 damage every 5.5 seconds, +/- 400 damage over 8 seconds to a isolated target + 120 damage with 2 sec stun.
Justification: Like the Usual Build, Split Earth at lvl 1 is no brainer. In this one Diabolic Edict is swapped with Lighting Storm, the differences being stronger against 1x1 fights or maybe 2x1 and faster tower sieging at the cost of a weakened Lighting Storm which will reduce your lane presence. Finish Split Earth then start Pulse Nova. This build could go well against enemies that think they can have some free gold or your lane partner does have a creep clearing skill so it would be more logical to you take the tower, rather than both clearing creeps.
Have in mind that Diabolic Edict is early game spell, so there are some advantages maxing it by lvl 7.
Make your own Build, things aren't carved into a stone. Adapt to the game, its the first path to win a game.
Skills In Depth Look
Split Earth
Splits the earth under your enemies' feet. Deals damage and stuns for a short duration.
Area of Effect: 150/175/200/225
Casting Range: 750 at all levels
Cooldown: 9 at all levels
Manacost: 100/125/140/160
Notes:
• Deals magical damage.
• Destroys trees.
• There is 1.05 seconds delay before the effect is applied(0.7 Animation + 0.35 from the skill itself).
• Hits invisible or enemies in fog.
Diabolic Edict
Saturates the area around Leshrac with magic, causing random explosions to enemies. Lasts 8 seconds.
Level 1 - 32 explosions of 12.5 damage each (total of 400 damage)
Level 2 - 32 explosions of 25 damage each (total of 800 damage)
Level 3 - 32 explosions of 37.5 damage each (total of 1200 damage)
Level 4 - 32 explosions of 50 damage each (total of 1600 damage)
Area of Effect: 500 at all levels
Cooldown: 22 at all levels
Manacost: 95/120/135/155
Notes:
• Deals mixed damage. This means that it deals both magical and physical damage, its reduced by both Armor and Magic Resistance but completely ignores Magic Immunity, and is ignored by Ethereal StateDecrepify, Ghost Scepter and Ethereal Blade.
• If by any means you die while on it's duration, Diabolic Edict will hit any target in it's area just like if you're alive. This is useful if someone kills you and goes near death in the process.
• The best of the skill is that can damage structures, excellent for tower sieging.
• Explosions have .25 delay between each other.
• Hits invisible or enemies in fog, but explosions won't show in both cases.
• Works while Leshrac is invisible, both Wind Walk(Lothar) and Permanent Invisibility(Moonlight Shadow).
• Not blocked by Vanguard/Stout Shield/PM's/Kraken Shell
• No longer uses Casting Animation, but the animation will be played, simply order a move order right after casting Diabolic Edict.
• Does around 192(6)/384(12)/576(18)/768(24) Damage to a T1/T2 tower, 160(5)/320(10)/480(15)/640(20) to a T3 tower and 142(4.4)/284(8.8)/426(13.2)/568(17.6) to a T4 tower. Numbers in parentheses indicate the approximate damage done by each explosion, assuming the towers have their base armor.
• Luckly, this skill will do more than 50% of it's damage, as it only grows weaker as time passes by.
Lighting Storm
Calls a lightning storm that hits nearby enemies.
Level 1 - Deals 80 damage. Jumps 4 times
Level 2 - Deals 145 damage. Jumps 6 times
Level 3 - Deals 205 damage. Jumps 7 times
Level 4 - Deals 265 damage. Jumps 8 times
Area of Effect: 650 at all levels
Casting Range: 700 at all levels
Cooldown: 5.5 at all levels
Manacost: 100/115/130/145
Notes:
• Deals magical damage.
• For a crapish 15 increased manacost, it increases 65/60/60 damage and increases jumps by 2/1/1. At lvl 1 you can hit all the creeps, after lvl 2 all creeps and 2/3/4 heroes(If there isn't more targets).
• Main pushing/defending skill, our lane controlling ability.
• Damage stays the same through all the bounces.
• Area of Effect means the distance the Lightning Storm can bounce.
• Theoretically, you can hit a target up to 5250 range far away.
• Must have vision over all the intended targets for them to be hit.
Pulse Nova
Summons a Pulse Nova every second to damage nearby enemies.
Level 1 - 66 (88*) damage per nova
Level 2 - 100 (133*) damage per nova
Level 3 - 144 (177*) damage per nova
Area of Effect: 450 at all levels
Cooldown: 0 at all levels
Manacost: 110 to activate, Cost 20/40/60 mana for every second active
Notes:
• Deals magical damage.
• (*) Means what it upgrades with Aghanim.
• Your trademark ability during teamfights if you manage to survive long enough to do huge damage to other team, 66(88)/100(133)/144(177) dmg per sec is no joke to laugh at.
• If you get disabled(StunStorm Bolt, Bashes/HexGuinso, Voodoo/ShacklesDismember, Fiend's Grip/PausedChronosphere, Toss/HiddenAstral Imprisonment/Disruption) during Pulse Nova, it will work normally.
• Hits invisible or enemies in fog.
• Works while Leshrac is invisible, both Wind Walk(Lothar) and Permanent Invisibility(Moonlight Shadow).
Justification: Chicken if doesn't have one, if already there one chicken upgrade it, if already, buy wards if necessary, GG branches for cheap stats and for later finish Magic Wand, tangoes for cheap regen, salve after escaping a failed gank and a clarity to spam. If you bought wards, let the chicken deliver the clarity to you. Wards can be both used for preventing ganks and using it to provide vision in lane to make sure Lighting Storm will hit.
or
795/810/825 Total cost.
Justification: Chicken if doesn't have one, Wards if necessary, Circlets to later Bracer/Null, Gauntlets if you think will get harrased/Mantle for better last hitting, Tango for cheap regen and a Clarity to spam.
Alternative Build
853 Total cost.
Justification: Soul Ring for 800 gold gives you 3hp/sec + 50% mana regen for 1 slot, and an active to ensure that you always have mana as long you have enough HP to pay for it, and can go well until mid game. A branch to ensure good game.
or
449/589 Total cost.
Justification: 3x Branchs to later Magic wand, 1 or 2 tangos(your choice), a clarity to keep lane control, and never forget the courier or if couriers are too mainstream and you like to finish that wand faster, get a stick.
2449 - 2469 Total cost.
Justification: Bracer if facing alot of harrasing or for a latter Janggo/Null for more mana to spam, Soul ring for its usefulness as being a 800 gold item giving regen for hp and mana, Magic Wand for emergencial HP/Mana, Boots and always have one TP with you, you never know when things will go wrong.
Alternative Build
3069 Total cost.
Justification: Boots will bring you to 370 ms alone. Soul ring as it seems, is the main source of our mana, as we are focusing to finish this Vanguard as soon as possible to counter its instante hp loss and to recover from its price. Vanguard is very questionable item to ranged heroes, 60% to block 20 damage is almost negligible, although it will able us to endure against summons/illusions heroes, as well creeps and towers for more time. Magic Wand, which is pretty obvious and always have a tp with you, you never know when things will go wrong.
9585 - 11725 Total cost.
Justification: Vanguard/Defiance depending on the enemy team, only do perseverance if you are going to make linken, otherwise use it to finish Bloodstone/Void Stone for later Guinso, with your farming abilities you should be able to have at least a Bloodstone at mid game. Tp if you dont have BoT.
Ask yourself those things:
I'm playing Leshrac?
Do you need regen?
Do you need hp?
Are you going to be in middle of everything/chase?
Are they a bunch of AoE dropping assholes?
Do they have summons/illus?
Are you unable to spare big chunk of mana/have someone else doing meka?
If yes to all get Vanguard and/or Defiance. If no to summons/illus get Defiance/Pipe. If yes to being able to spare big chunk of mana, get Meka/Pipe.
x
Perseverance can be later used for Linken's Sphere or can just disassembled to make Vanguard/Defiance and a later Sheep-Stick or used in Bloodstone.
Choose it carefully as it can decide if your late game will be a victory or a defeat.
- If you feel more likely to be chasing with Diabolic Edict and/or Pulse Nova against fast targets or escape as well. - Treads can give you +152 HP/+0.24 HP regen or +8 IAS/+1.1 Armor or +104 MP/+0.32 MP regen/+8 Dmg, as you can change its attribute at anytime, Str/Int can come in handy in some situations. - BoT can almost guarantee your game if used properly, its 100 extra ms will make your chasing easier, the only drawback is it's high cost. - Arcane gives an extra 250 mana, 110 mana every 45 seconds and 65 extra ms. It can be chosen if you find yourself in a lack of mana. It also offers no survivability aside from other boots. Can be later disassembled to make a BoT and a Bloodstone.
- This one goes perfect with a soul ring, as it ensures your regeneration after its use. The only problem with this almost perfect boot is that if you are under focus fire, it gets disabled and ensures your death by removing 25 Ms, 3 armor and 3hp/sec.
26325 - 27600 Total Cost.
Justification: BoT is the most useful boots at late game especially to lesh as him can stop/make pushs fast, now that Bloodstone comes with 6 charges its more worth than a Aghanim, Tarrasque with Bkb and Bloodstone will make you almost unstoppable in a team fight , Linken/Bkb, Sheep-Stick for it's disable and mana regen and Shiva for the armor and for the Artic Blast which will help chasing with Pulse Nova and/or Diabolic Edict.
Linken x Bkb
x
BKB gives Lesh the ability to dump all his spells on the field without being stopped, in 10(5) seconds of immunity Lesh can cause huge damage to enemy team.
Linken's Sphere in the other hand is great against non-spammable single target skills, especially usefull against Doom, while bkb only disables nothing from it.
- Any item from Ancient Weaponary/Enchanted Artifacts. - Rejected - Most of pub's choice, Lesh lacks burst damage, but all of lesh spells are spammable or have some duration, which makes this item unnecessary. - Rejected - Your highest cooldown is 22, and your mana should be mainly to Pulse Nova. - Rejected
- The 25 MS comes handy, gives you plenty of mana regen, helps you to land Split Earth, also helps you dodge some nasty spells. - Optional/Situational - Makes you invunerable to physical harm, disables of one of the other team carries, and also make him vunerable to spells, gives some armor, some stats, also ables you to dodge some spells, recommended when there isn't a ghostbuster on the other team/Same for Ghost Scepter except for the enemy carrier disable. - Situational - This will help escaping, also Diabolic Edict and Pulse Nova works while you are invisible, so you can surprise buttsecks - Situational. - No one likes to have their team losing high amounts of health quickly, they will surely focus you if they are smart and you will die, make this and they will think better before taking you down. - Situational - You need positioning for your close range skills, as your stun isn't long enough to reach your targets in time to make them crispy, Dagger have more range and a lower Cd, but can be disabled, in the other hand, Force have less range and higher Cd, cheap stats and cannot be disabled and its funny to mess around. Also gives you a escape mechanism. - Optional/Situational. - An easy build-up item even if you are feeding like no tommorow, costs less than Guinso, same regen, less damageAlthough it comes with Attack Speed bonus, its active can be very useful if you want to kill your targets faster and without the fear of retaliationOrchid can only be chosen over Guinso if your enemy output comes from spells, as they can use items, move and attack freely. of spells, using all skills on the target hero for the full duration without attacking CAN do a max of + 428/459.4 bonus damage(Non-agha/Agha against a target with 0 armor and 25% magic resistance, also assuming all your skills are maxed.) - Optional/Situational. - A second chance to complete your torment is always good. Also gives you 5 seconds to cooldown your skills. - Situational. - Problems with that bamf carrier? 380 Hp, 25% Evasion, A chance to slow for 20% upon attacks and a 3(4) seconds disable in one item. - Situational.
- Although you dont have too much hp to use it/nor regeneration at early game to abuse it, as long you keep out of the average stuns/disables cast range you are safe, or if you enemies in lane doesn't have nukes. Beware, this is very rewarding item at lane control, but also, a doom. Your lowest mana cost spell is 95 while the highest is 160, also goes greatly well with Pulse Nova, as its can able you to active it or keep it for near 8/4/3 extra pulses at levels 1/2/3. Mind that it takes 50 seconds(Considering only it's own regen) to recover from one use of it, so its a good idea to have another regen source. - Increase not only yours magical output but also of your team by 25%Magical, Mixed and Universal damage will be increased. Heroes affected by it will take 93.75% of the damage said by skills opposed to 75%. is nothing to disconsider, although its very useful to bring your enemies to their graves faster, it can also make you find yours, just 5 armor and 5hp/sec bonus is nothing good to a hero that should be dancing with his enemies.
Countering him isn't a problem, as long you can make use of one of the following:
• Resistance, his main source of damage come from spells, so you can make good use of Cloak/Defiance/Pipe to negate some of the damage.
• Black King Bar can be useful too, as it negates Split Earth, Lighting Storm and Pulse Nova from affecting you, although if you are at Diabolic Edict range you will get damaged no matter your Magic Resistance/Armor albeit greatly reducing the damage felt.
• Silence, also works greatly, as long you land it prior to Diabolic Edict and/or Pulse Nova activation, if you fail to do this, keep him in place or run.
• Reduce his acess to Mana, if he gets a limited amount of mana to his use, he will limit its use to Split Earth or any disable he currently have.
• Blademail, Diabolic Edict cannot be interrupted. If he sees you have activated Blademail, Pulse Nova will be turned offAlthough he can choose not to for those 4 seconds, use this to turn the tides.
• Fake moves, although risky, you can force him to use Split Earth in nowhere or Diabolic Edict/Pulse Nova against no one.
• Fog, Lighting Storm can't hit you.
Now seriously:
Thanks Blizzard for Warcraft. Icy for shape Dota to what its now. People in comments for helping/fixing guide. Mechanics forums for helping in spells deep info and further math. Others guides for giving me info in how to make a guide.
