Lanaya, The Templar Assassin




The apprentice of a legendary creature from Aiur, Lanaya is a psychic adept who specializes in strategic assassination for the Sentinels. Her psionic abilities manifest in and out of combat, and can be used to amplify damage while attacking, to protect her from enemy assault, or cloak herself invisibly before lashing out at an unfortunate passerby. And so more often than not, the foes that encounter the Templar on the battlefield find themselves dead and buried, their lives cut short as she fades back into the shadows, waiting for a new prey.

Introduction

Hi, this is the first guide that i try to write. I'm writing this guide because of my boredom. Hopefully, i will help someone with this guide.

I - Lanaya
In fact, Lanaya has the most burst damage in whole carrys. She can play mindgames quite well. She can solo against good soloers, like Zeus, Sf, Puck etc. with his refraction. She reduces armor with meld. What do you want more?

1 - Stats

As you can see Lanaya has slightly above avarage base movespeed of 305. She has a decent stat gain. Her armour is not a problem, she has a good agility gain, almost on par with PotM. With this she has a nice attack speed for late game. Her skills' manacost is very little. Only problem that she will be suffering is her low str.


2 - Skills

Refraction (Click on the icon to view the skills details)

This is the skill what makes or breaks a good Lanaya. This skill will give you chance to play mindgames, kill heroes without losing hp, etc. Also, its essential for you to know when to use this skill if you want to solo, unless you have a CM on your team.


Meld (Click on the icon to view the skills details)

Basicly, your only nuke. Just don't use it for ambush, as it will make you lose more gold(no creep=no gold). Also don't use it to hide. Because they will throw aoe spells at you and bam, you are dead.


Psi Blades (Click on the icon to view the skills details)

When this skill maxed, you'll have a total 460 range. It doesn't spill Meld's extra damage. And the spill will work for denies as well.


Psionic Trap (Click on the icon to view the skills details)

A trap that gives an AoE slow, also it is your free ward. Don't hesitate to drop it to key spots(roshan, runes...). And just a note, they do not prevent neutrals from spawning.

At level 1, get Meld if you got first blood attempted, otherwise stick with Refraction. We get Refraction over Meld, because Refraction actually help you to lane, whereas Meld doesn't. You can even take tower's hits with refraction but you can't do it with meld. But if you have squishy heroes against you, you can take Meld, because it has more burst damage and you can kill them with double-meld. If you try to get Meld - Psi Blades first, the nukers will simply fuck you up, even though you will have more chances for a double-meld. Thus you can't play mindgames too. And they can get sentry wards, and simply counter you, which a opponent with brains will do it anyway. Psionic trap whenever you can get for improved cooldown and more map control.

2 - Skill Build Variations


Another option is to get Refraction and Psi Blades. Why Psi Blades? You need range for orbwalkers and harrassers like Viper, you can't survive to do your Refraction + Meld combo at level 9. Instead, you get some range(so safety). I've already told that it isn't good to get Meld + Psi Blades. It sucks ass!

3 - Starting Items



Those can be your starting items. First, assuming if you are in a pub game, beg someone to buy a chicken and share it with you. Its nearly vital, to get your boots and your bottle if you are soloing in middle. Get magic stick if you face casters like Zeus, Nevermore. It will help you to lane so much. Tangoes and Salves are self-explained, you need them to survive. If you need more survivalibty you can get Gaunlets, make them bracers afterwards. And to ensure a good game and a requirement for Magic Wand, GG Branches.


4 - Core Items

Magic Wand - 509 gold
Pretty good for almost anyone, and Lanaya is not an exception. It gives burst hp and mana, allowing you to survive a couple more hits or lay that last trap for your prey.

Bottle - 600 gold
However i don't recommend this item for starting, it is very good if you solo mid. Basicly your traps allow you to runewhore well and you can fill it up every 2 mins because of it. It doesn't lose efficency late game because of storing runes. A regen rune in the bottle will save you many times with meld.

Kelen's Dagger - 2150 gold
With this, you can get to your squishy preys easily, you can meld, and dagger for escape. It brings so many oppurtunities i can't count. This will be first big item we are farming.

Boots - 500 gold
Self - explained...

Desolator - 4400 gold
This will be our DPS item. It has best gold/damage ratio and perfectly synergises with our skills, especially meld. With Meld and Desolator our preys will have -14 armor which will be hurting them so much. Also - armor not only good for us. It is good for our teammates too.
