Hi people! this is my first guide. I've been playing dota for 2 years now and decided to write a guide for one of my favorite heroes, Lucifer the Doom Bringer. Feel free to give constructive remarks.

1. Intro

Lucifer is definitely one of the most feared heroes in the whole of Dota. He can make any hero almost completely crippled, making them a slightly thicker creep which coughs up blood overtime. LVL Death causes opposing players to be trapped in a dilemna; level up or not. Devour makes him more well farmed than other players(SITUATIONAL) and gives him an extra skill. when doomed, few heroes can outrun Doom on Scorched Earth. Unless helped by teammates, he will MEET HIS DOOM.

3. Strengths and Weaknesses


Strengths

-High Strength, good hp to safeguard you life during early-mid game buttsecks
-Scary Presence. Most heroes back off simply from seeing you, ensuring the escape of your teammates
-Alot of different types of usage. Caster, Dps hero, or even support.(YES DPS. READ ON DON'T START FLAMING ME)
-Meansonofabitch
-Awesome Int growth for a STR hero

Weaknesses

-Pathetic Agi/ Agi growth. resulting in low armor and low attack speed. the low armor causes you to be unable to tank well, only able to withstand nukes which does a certain amount of damage, unaffected by armor.
-Only disable is his ultimate(not taking ministun from LVL?DEATH into consideration)
-Unable to do much without mana(caster build)
-Alpha wolves disappear at a point of time

4. Skills Elaboration

Ability Hotkey: E

Great Farming skill. ever since the doom remake, doom can be not only a caster, but a support or even dps hero thanks to this skill. with Alpha wolf devoured, you get a free 30% command aura and 2x crit strike. FOR FREE. you can even get skills like purge or freezing attack to help in the chase, or hoof stomp to aid in team battles. Take note that devouring creeps with no skills while having a skill from a neutral creep does not overwrite your current skill obtained from devour previously. Try to use it as soon as the cool down has finished. level 1/2/3/4 devour allows you to devour level 2/3/4/5 neutral creeps, excluding ancients.

A skill used to chase or escape primarily. it also grants lucifer with health regeneration while degenerating the health of enemies that wander into the AoE. Scorched Earth occurs around Lucifer, so feel free to move while the spell is active as it follows you wherever you go. Try not to spam it just to heal youself unless you are sure that you will not be caught while it undergoes cool down. A doom bringer which did not devour a kobold task master will definitely be caught and shreded by pursuers.

Deals damage and bonus damage based on the target's level. The spell comes with a ministun, so use it if you need to cancel off a channeling spell

The spell which makes the Doom Bringer the Doom Bringer. this spell silences its target for the entire duration of the spell, which is more than just deadly. Doom bypasses spell immunity, although the target takes no damage from it. Doom also silences certain passive abilities, which makes it incredible. Note: Ursa's fury swipe is also silenced by doom.

Sadly, the doomed target can be denied when his hp falls below 25%. Meaning no gold for you.

5. Skill Build and justifications

AS I HAVE MENTIONED EARLIER. THIS GUIDE IS AN ALTERNATE BUILD(DPS BUILD) TO DOOM. This build has been used by myself for over half a year, its effectiveness is ensured. Look below for replays.(please don't start flaming before even trying it out. I know that alternate builds are oftenly looked down upon as everyone has already adapted to the 'classic' build.)

At side lanes:
1. Devour

Solo lane:
Pretty much the same, but with greater focus on maxing out Devour and LVL?DEATH. The 'classic' build.

JUSTIFICATIONS:

Now isn't this what everyone is waiting for? A chance to flame me ya?

Devour
Devour is taken at level 1 for the free last hits and gold advantage(obviously). Devour also has a slightly longer reach and a better animation than your normal attacks, thus allowing you to devour a lane creep which is unreachable with your normal attack before it is denied.

LVL?DEATH
when you reach lvl 5, this skill should be at level 2. thus dealing bonus damage to the heroes on your lane. most heroes should be unable to stomach the damage and thus have to return to base. before they level up to level 6 and given that you did not spam your spells mindlessly, you should have enough mana to send them running back to base(unless enemies have healing spells. in this situation, try to go for the kill). when they return, you should be level 6 and have enough mana to cast either Scorched Earth + Doom OR Scorched Earth + LVL?DEATH. throw that clarity into your stomache and a Doom + level 1 scorched earth + level 2 LVL?DEATH with bonus damage should immediately give you a kill, unless the target is healed or shallow graved. Further levels of this skill should be taken whenever needed. Always take note of the level of enemy heroes.

Scorched Earth
Scorched Earth is not maxed out usually as the MS bonus does not increase. However, the Regen/Degen is normally overlooked. At level 4, not taking any health regeneration or other form of damage reduction into consideration, Scorched Earth creates a gap of 48 hp between you and any enemy hero affected. If the enemy is chased for the entire duration, he takes 336 damage, meaning there is a whooping 672 hp difference between you and your target.

YES. Most people would think that LVL?DEATH at level 4 with bonus damage would be much better. but take note that by the time that you are level 7, mid lane heroes would be around level 10(most probably). your level 2 LVL?DEATH taken at hero levels 4 and 5 would deal bonus damage to them. So overall, if the enemy hero takes damage from the entire duration of scorched earth, level2 LVL?DEATH with bonus damage, the entire duration of Doom, and the extra 2 - 3 normal attacks you get to land with your bonus movement speed, you should deal (336 + 400 + 420 + 150(2 normal attacks)) X 75%(estimated damage reduction) = 979.5 damage. this is DEADLY for any level 10 int or agi hero.
