A few words

Magina, the deadliest blind person you'll ever meet.While being annoying to INT heroes all game long, it still poses lane dominance on mana dependent strength heroes early.

Having a perfect finishing skill that is even AoE makes this hero a force to be reckon with, in lategame being the place where few heroes can withstand his presence.


Basic information about Magina the Anti-Mage.

The name Anti-Mage is pretty self explanatory, Magina hates Magic and learned abilities focused on magic oriented heroes.

Pros:

  • High-Dmg spells
  • Scales well into late-game
  • Good escape mekanism
  • Strong ganker
  • Hard carry


Cons:

  • Poor starting mana
  • Poor int gain
  • Needs items to be effective
  • Orb effect passive
  • Hard to master


Magina's Role's:

To define his role, lets look what he is good at. That would be:

1. Carrying
2. Ganking
3. Initiating
4. Tanking

Carrying is placed first due to the fact that Magina is a hard carry.Ganking being placed on two because of the mana-burning and blinking abilities that aid ganks greatly.Initiating is possible in late-game with Blink+Manta approach, but rather situational.Tanking is the worst thing that magina can do, AGI heroes simply don't tank.

Skills


Mana Break

This makes Magina very unique, burns a high amount of mana as a passive with 0 cd.

Level 1: 28 mana burned.
Level 2: 40 mana burned.
Level 3: 52 mana burned.
Level 4: 64 mana burned.

Manacost: N/A
Cooldown: N/A
Casting Range: N/A

• Damage type: normal
• Deals 0.6 damage per point of mana burnt.
• Mana Burn is blocked by magic immunity.
• This skill is an Orb Effect.
• You can lifeleech the damage dealt by this skill with a Lifesteal aura.



Blink

This is what makes Magina the deadliest Assasin, the ability to jump in and out of combat is priceless.

Manacost: 60
Cooldown: 12/9/7/5
Casting Range: Global

• If you used Blink to teleport to a distance over the maximum range, you'll be teleported 4/5 of the maximum range instead.
• You can use Blink to dodge incoming projectiles.
• Blink has a 0.33 seconds teleportation delay.



Corect use of blink:
Blink must be used properly in order to be effective, if you order AM to blink to an destination beyond 1000 range of blink, he will only blink 4/5 of the maximum range.

That's the 1000 range, if you click beyond that then you will blink only about 700 range.

See ? but if you click corectly within the 1000 range then you TP more then you would if you click beyond 1000.

Another tricky thing about Blink is that you can't tp if you or your allies havn't been there.

Now that i've been there..

You should remember this when trying to escape because an failed blink can result in your death.



Spell Shield

This skill makes INT heroes not want to focus you even though you are eating their mana with a big blade right now, 15% means alot early game.

Level 1: 15%
Level 2: 25%
Level 3: 35%
Level 4: 45%

Mana Void

This skill aids you in finishing off enemy heroes also a very potent AoE spell if used at the right time.

Level 1: Deals 0.6 damage per mana point missing
Level 2: Deals 0.85 damage per mana point missing
Level 3: Deals 1.1 damage per mana point missing

• Damage type: magical
• Stuns target for a short while.
• Damage is calculated based on the primary target's mana, but applied to all enemies within the AoE.
• Stun works on magic immune units.

Justification:

This skill build focuses on mana burning, which will help you deal with that pesky ES or Lina early game effectively while you farm.But if you feel them nukes hitting you way to hard simply swap a Mana Break level with a Spell Shield.


Itembuild

Every carry needs a set of tools to complete his job properly, Magina needs the following:

Starting items:



Slippers improving LH abilityes and can be converted in PMS or Wraiths.
GG Branches for an bit of everything and not last an Good Game.
Tangoes so you can stay more in the lane more and farm.

Core:

Treads before you get your vanguard they should stay on Strenght after that switch to Agility.
Vanguard it grants damage block against agi heroes and regen that can be used in killing INT heroes.
TP Scrolls you should have map awareness, an ally may be facing an enemy that just towerdives you should TP without thinking and with a bit of luck they will ignore the TP or just not see it and you will be able to kill them.(most cases)

Luxuries:



Manta Style now that you have survivability from the Vanguard it's time to focus on damage and the MS is usefullin chases.
Butterfly Every AGI hero's Luxury, grants the hero damage, tons of AS and the precious evasion.
Vladmir's You now have an decent amount of AS and damage, let's increase your survivability a bit, it also helps your mana problems.
Basher Now every hero should run when she/he sees you, the basher will help you stop them.

Denied items:

Orbs You already have an orb passive, that is priceless and works so good with your other skills.
Battlefury It may help you farm a bit, but the butterfly also does and you have tons of regen from Vanguard.
Radiance You are a carry not a tank, sparkles won't make your death more nicer.
Boots of Travel Provides an counter-push measure for late game but you benefit more from AS in my opinion.It may be considered past the 40th minute mark.
Black King Bar You already have Spell Shield and if they focus everything on you, your team-mates will clear them up.


Gameplay

Laning:

Don't solo, you are very weak during the laning phase.

After you reach level 4 you should right-click your enemies a few times and then blink away to make sure their mana stays low.


Ganking:

Ganking with blink it's simple, blink in from fog.Wack, wack and wack some more then finish with mana void, if something unexpected happens just blink away in fog/far away.

Pushing:

After you get your Vladmir's you can push very well exploit the blink so you can push far far away and when the enemy team comes just blink away.

Teamfights:

If your team lacks of an good initiator you should do it, locate the most dangerous INT, blink in, activate Manta and wack away.
