OBLIVION AWAITS!
Feel the venom of Nerub- Guide to the Beetle King

Introduction
Background Story
Anub'arak was once the greatest champion of the Nerubians, but fell in the Second War of the Spider. He was resurrected by the Lich King Ner'zhul, who promised him eternal undeath in exchange for his unswerving loyalty. His layers of spiked armor are nearly impregnable, causing severe damage to attackers. When threatened, he shoots these spikes through enemies, maiming and disorienting them. He channels his dark powers into a bolt of disarming negative energy, and those who witness him blending into the shadows of the frozen tundra have never lived to tell the tale.
Hero Introduction:
The Nerubian Assassin starts off by wearing his opponents down early on, Burning their Mana for damage, keeping them fairly useless and vulnerable. With a Vendetta against living things, he can become invisible, travel faster, and deal great damage to the next thing he hits. Following up with his powerful line stunning impale and then Mana Burn is a combo most will instantly fall victim to--hard to see it coming and difficult to escape. While he is known for his deadly offensive, this Assassin also has a Spiked Carapace to help defend against physical attackers, and reflect melee damage directly.

A Bug's Life( The hero's Role): Nerubian Assassin's Role is mainly 2 things: Ganking and Supporting the team. His alternative role is an anti-mage. When Ganking, use vendetta to initiate sequence " Operation Sting". After Vendetta, Impale and mana burn and let your allies do the rest. Always remember to destroy the most fragile one first. Never go alone unless you're confident enough that your victim will die, or else you would look like a dumbass.
The Pro's and Con's
The Pro's/ Advantages of being a bug
+ Has decent stat gain
+ Has great synergy amongst his skills( except carapace)
+ The deadly combo, AKA the venom of nerub( will see later on)
+ Has decent movement speed
+ Has 2 good nukes, and a stun
+ The fear of all Int heroes
+ The most lethal escape and initiating skill( Vendetta)
+ One of the best Gankers in the game
+ Early- mid game is his prime. Beef em up early
+ Spikes on his back??? Ouch
+ Escape mechanisms( impale and vendetta)
+ Deals great amount of damage in a single combo
+ Good against destructive Melee Heroes
+ Has free wards
+ Has a bug that silences
The Con's/ Disadvantages
- The Bigger the bug, the more they'll spray. Huge bug means Huge target.
- Has relatively low starting str, agi and int.
- A squishy bug
- An agility hero that has no ability to semi-carry( for balance purposes)
- Broodmama follows him around. (Brood)
(Nerub)
- Countered easily by gem, bkb, HoD/ Pipe, etc.
- Not good against destructive ranged heroes.
- Item Dependent
- Not very efficient against tanks.
- Not as efficient in Late Game
- Impale nerfed
Skill Builds
The Usual/Recommended build:
Level 1- Impale
Level 2- Urna Swarm
Level 3- Impale
Level 4- Mana Burn
Level 5- Impale
Level 6- Vendetta
Level 7- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 8- Mana Burn/Impale
Level 9- Mana Burn
Level 10- Mana Burn
Level 11- Vendetta
Level 12- Urna Swarm/ Stats
Level 13- Urna Swarm/ Stats
Level 14- Stats
Level 15- Stats
Level 16- Vendetta
Level 17-25- Stats
Justification: Impale is a No-Brainer, it should always be taken first unless you prefer mana burn on a situation wherein the enemy has devastating nukes. Impale and Mana Burn should be Maxed in this type of skillbuild, except for the 1 level of Urna Swarm, instead of buying wards, put 1 level of urna swarm, it only requires one level and it lasts indefinitely, this is for anti ganking of the enemy. Vendetta is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS taken whenever possible, it is the ultimate ganking/ initiating skill, never cease to skip it.Urna Swarm is also always taken early on, before or after impale because it gives free wards. Stats or another level of Urna Swarm is taken after: impale and mana burn are maxed, for more wards around the jungle and a silencing bug shut-down. Usually, stats are taken before urna swarm, but now at least a level 2 Urna swarm will suffice. After that, it's all stats.
The Pub Build, Unrecommended!
Level 1- Impale
Level 2- Mana Burn
Level 3- Mana Burn / Impale
Level 4- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 5- Mana Burn / Impale
Level 6- Vendetta
Level 7- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 8- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 9- Impale / Mana Burn

Level 15- Stats
Level 16- Vendetta
Level 17- Urna Swarm
Level 18- Stats
Level 19- Stats
Level 20- Stats
Level 21-25- Stats
Justification: This is a pub skill-build in exchange for Urna. Hence you will not have free wards but! your nuking power increases.
The Pros: More Nuking Power
The Cons: Less Survivability, Less ganking and Bigger chance to get ganked
See why this is unrecommended? Its a pub skillbuild.
The avoid bug spray and survivability build
Level 1- Impale
Level 2- Urna Swarm
Level 3- Impale
Level 4- Stats
Level 5- Impale
Level 6- Vendetta
Level 7- Impale
Level 8- Stats
Level 9- Stats
Level 10- Stats
Level 11- Vendetta
Level 12- Mana Burn
Level 13- Mana Burn
Level 14- Mana Burn
Level 15- Mana Burn
Level 16- Vendetta
Level 17-25: Stats/ Urna Swarm
Justification: For me this is very situational, the only time you will do this IMO is when there are devastating nukers. He is very soft so stats would be a nice substitute for Urna. The reason why we get mana burn later on is because that is the moment when it really shines, Int heroes will beg for mercy. Usual build is still promoted and popular.
A Closer Look
Impale's Effect:
Impale and its Range:
Impale is to stun and push a lane with the wave of creeps coming in. It should be spammed in mid-late game when Mana items are acquired.
Mana Burn

Mana Burn is to empty the enemy's mana, usually on mana-dependent heroes.
Following is :Vendetta/ Mana Burn/ Impale/ Dagon( not a skill)

Item Builds:
THE EARLY GAME:
The Starting Build: Always remember that Nerub needs mana and stats early on to survive a lane. Next Priority is leveling up and the last is killing.
The CHOICES:
This is the Classic Starting Build(Version 6.20-50)

As you can see the classic way requires Iron Wood Branches, Tangos and clarity potions:

At least 3 ironwood branches, 2 tango and 2 clarity is needed in this build.
Why these?:
Purpose: This is a mediocre build, for stats and survivability. It is actually decent to upgrade into mekansm during the v6.40's.
Cost: 439 G
------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Ring Of Basilius: The fellowship of the Ring, The usual build.

Why Ring?
Purpose: It is spam- friendly for impale and mana burn, it gives armor and the mana regen and armor aura is decent early on, your team mates will love you.
Upgrade to Vlad
only when you're team needs it.( when there are allied melee heroes, when extra damage is needed, when extra armor is needed, and extra mana regen). This further increases your supporting use for your team.
Cost: 590 G
------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic wand takes over DotA: The Recent/ Hip build.
+ 3x
+ Recipe=
= 509 G
If you choose this build, it should look like this:

Why Magic Wand?
Purpose:Whenever you have spellcasting enemies, this is highly promoted since it gets charges from spellcasting. It gives some stats and an active skill which restores both mana and hp. Very useful early on.
It would cost: 499 G plus upgrading magic wand= 649 G.
Starting Gold is 603 in a 5v5 game. You would only need 46 more gold to buy it.
------------------------------------------------------------------
The Flying Courier: Only buy it when other team mates don't have it, otherwise you can share the courier. When facing a solo lane, always have one of these.
Cost: 400 G
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Urn Seizes Power: The Latest/ Most recent item fit for a build.
It needs
+ 2x
+ Recipe=
=875 G
If you choose this build, it should look like this:

then make the necessary upgrades:
and 250g Recipe.
Why Urn??
Purpose:Since this item gets charges whenever an enemy hero dies, it is gank oriented, which means you'll benefit from it. It also Gives mana regen and some raw hp.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Busy as a Beetle.( the Stat item movement)

Wraith bands or Bracers or Null Talismans
Why These?: I am not really a fan of these because it holds you back from your main goal: Core Items, but i would say BRACERS are the right choice because it is more useful than wraith and null.
THE MID GAME:
The Core Items:
I myself prefer the Bottle Courier style of Nerub, But lets just say you prefer the classic or wand. You MUST add these to your item slots. Earn for them ASAP. You can never achieve your goal without these:

DAGON:
Why Dagon?: It gives you a burst damage on top of your deadly skills. Some Raw mana and damage. Earn this ASAP and your enemies will be kissing their butts goodbye.
Boots:
This is always a priority, you may change it into the three upgraded boots:

BoT, Phase, Treads.

Void Stone: A very needed item since Nerub uses a lot of mana for ganking itself. Also to spam impale when pushing.
Now it should look like this :

Recommended Items
Upgrading and Expanding The Core:

Boots Upgrade:
Justification:

Boots of Travel: If you need more versatility, pushing, defending, ganking and roaming. This is what you need to buy. In situations where your towers are being pushed, or a lane that's free to be pushed. So far your best choice for Nerub.
Cons: Very expensive.

Phase Boots: A decent alternative, but in some ways useless. Phasing is already in Vendetta, Since the nerf of this, you can only use it to last hit more because of the raw damage increase. Phasing Helps but BoT is just the winner.

Treads: A stat alternative if needed or couldn't afford a BoT. This is not needed since you don't really need the AS in Ganking. The ms helps but BoT has more ms.
The WINNER: BoT

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Void Stone Upgrade: (Tribute to Guinsoo and Eul)

Guinsoo: The most logical upgrade IMO because it solves all your mana problems, has hex that helps the team, and some decent stat gains. Also an escape mechanism

Eul's scepter of Divinity: A great alternative, it also solves some mana problems and a cyclone that takes out an enemy from a skirmish making them outnumbered. Also escape mechanism
>>>>
Perseverance- Linken's Sphere- A situational item if the enemy has a deadly target nuke, not very prioritized because guinsoo is just a more logical item for nerub.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Dagon Upgrades:
Should I Upgrade Dagon?(credits to BlueRangerGoGo) : Yes, but only when necessary, that means when you're enemies are getting stronger. Sometimes Dagon upgrades can be skipped for support items
Why should I Upgrade Dagon???
This is necessary when the enemy's hp is heavily increasing, upgrade whenever your budget can afford it, but i suggest you support first.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Luxury Extensions/ Alternatives:
Guinsoo is already a given, so you might want to try these out in case you couldn't afford a guinsoo, or after buying guinsoo:
The Ganking Luxuries:

Necronomicon: Very Great synergy amongst his skills. True sight+ Mana Burn+ Return damage is just overkill.
Cons:Expensive as your core already requires a lot.
Shiva's Guard: Let's see,
Synergy of Armor:
Spiked Carapace= 8 bonus armor,
Shiva's guard= 15 more armor. Check.
Synergy of Ganking/ Support:
Nerub: Vendetta+ Impale+ Mana Burn+ Dagon= Nuke and disable
Shiva's Arctic Blast= Nuke and slow on MS and AS.
Just Pure Pawnage.

Bloodstone: Whenever you get a kill( which will most likely happen) You get a charge, this benefits you in a lot of ways, but it doesn't support the team so much, but it promotes ganking because of self-benefits.
----------------------------------------------The Support Luxuries:
[box]Guinsoo: Its a given- hex-mana-stats.
Euls: Also Given
Hood of Defiance- Pipe of Insight: A very nice Item that Supports your whole team and solves your squishiness problem. It can make the whole team survive longer on nukes because of magic resistance when casting Pipe

Mekansm: A very nice support item, heals your allies around you when they need it most, gives armor too on top of that
, a very classic support item.
Assault Cuirass:It may be a DPS item, but this is not for your own benefit, this is actually a support/ situational item( buy when no one in your team has it). It increases your armor by 10. It also helps increases your team's AS and armor while decreasing the enemy's armor too. Get this when needed.

Orchid Malevolence: This is also a good support/gank item, amplifies damage and silences and enemy for 5 sec. It also solves mana problems as well. So its a more support item
Cons: Can be countered by bkb/ manta.[/box]
Luxuries in General:
Heart of Tarrasque: For more resistance against pesticide and not dependent on fountain, buy this as it would help a lot in teamfights and solves your health problems.

Aghanim's sceptre: Not very promoted because it does not help vendetta but the extra stats can help.
Desperate times calls for Desperate Measures( Situational Items) :

Linken's Sphere: Given

BladeMail: When enemies with devastating damage are in battle, buy this and put the spikes to protect yourself as they will regret trying to squish you. It gives armor, attack and mana too which you can put to use

Force Staff: This is to make things easier for you as this can ruin some team battles for a cheaper price but less efficiency . Knockback towards your team leads to death, while knockback towards the opposite direction gives some time(1-2 sec) for an outnumbered enemy team.

Lothar's Edge: VERY VERY VERY situational. For its price, its not very promising, but gives an alternative for vendetta. Can be used both in Ganking and escaping, but less effective. If you need another escape mechanism because you killed an int hero by yourself and all skills are in cooldown while the back-up is trying to kill you, you may be my guest in buying this, but i wouldn't recommend it.
The Optional:
Choose your Passive:
Radiance: It would cause a failure in ambush but the immolation is just classic, optional because dps not needed but degenerates opposing team.
Choose your Pub/ messing around item:
( Please don't take this seriously)

Buriza-Do-Kyanon: Very optional, i would have put this in the rejected items, but it seems fun to use it after vendettas
NOT RECOMMENDED and Pretty much neclected so you'll also see this in rejected items
OK ITEMS TO CHOOSE
Vanguard: Its decent for survivability and staying in lane for pushing. but i don't recommend getting this.
Arcane Ring: Its more of a Tiny item than a Nerub item, but it helps spamming, still don't recommend.
Choose your orb:
Mjolnir: One of my Favorite Optional builds. Since chain lightning is a magical damage nuke, it fits Nerub in a lot of ways, you can get more kills with this, but i doubt you can afford it. You can also put the buff on your team's carry
. This Optional Orb is Legit.
REJECTED ITEMS:
DPS Items from the Ancient Weaponry: May i have everyone's attention, to those who think Nerub is a carry, please read this: HE IS NOT. Your logic is terribly messed-up if you think he can use dps items. Why you ask? See down below on FAQ section.
The so-called Battle Fury:
Other Orb Effects:
Lifesteal- check your AS
Skadi- You have enough disables, if you want stats, get a better luxury.
Stygian Desolator: check your AS, instead buy an AC.
S&Y: You don't benefit from the main nor the stat it gives since you already have stats from guinsoo, the ms? you have BoT and that's enough.
MoM- that is just plain sad if you buy this, you become squishier for tickling your enemy??
Refresher's Orb: You don't need a refresher, your Vendetta has a decent cooldown, its not an OG or Black Hole.
Different Item Builds: Variety is a good thing for Nerub, He is very flexible between his ganking ability to tank and support. Here are some examples that can help you choose in a game, choose wisely depending on the situation
When lacking a Tank
The Unsquishable Bug:

Alternatives: BKB
The ANTI- PESTICIDE

Alternatives:
The Lovebug( support):

Alternatives: Mekansm, Vlad,Assault Cuirass and Orchid Malevolence
The Ganker

Orchid amplifies damage, makes it a ganking item.
Alternatives: BladeMail and Urn of Shadows
The Semi-Dps Stinger 800 model:

This Pretty Much Wraps up this Category, Phew, Moving On.

How To Use The Beetle King: Its very simple, As shown above, Impale is your main nuke, therefore it must be spammed wisely. Mana Burn is most effective against Int Heroes, but also use this against nukers. Vendetta is a remarkable skill used to initiate. Basically, use his skills accordingly: Vendetta, Impale, Mana Burn, Dagon, Guinsoo, its a success. This Requires dexterity and really skillful hands in order to pull of the most devastating combo. Map awareness is a must, you must always roam around to find your victims. Remember to use Vendetta wisely at level 6 for the duration is very short. Coordination is also a primary criteria, you and your team mates must communicate in order for a Gank to be successful. Those are your main Priorities. Your secondary priority is money and leveling up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
What should NA be doing most often?: The bug must be buzzing around the map finding victims and ganking. Roaming is another word for that or scouting. Vendetta and Urna are great skills for that, successful kills leads to successful bounty and also leads to the enemy team's carry's demise.
What he shouldn't be doing most often: Ahh yes,the jungle, if you were some sort of troll or naix i would really encourage you to jungle and farm, but you're NA, you're a ganker, you find enemies and successfully kill them, not farm all day.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Main Role: Ganking/ Support.
Why it relates to your item build: More nuking power(dagon), more supporting power(guinsoo).
----------------------------------------------------------------
What to do: As stated, roam around the map and find some victims. Also put observer wards/ Urna beetles on the right places in order for attempted ganks of the enemy to fail. Ganking is Priority. Pushing will be next.
What not to do: He shouldn't be jungling, no. He also shouldn't be carrying for he sucks on that. Solo-ing a victim is not such a good idea because of nearby back-ups. Never solo a tank, never solo an enemy hero without your allies there to back you up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Nerubian Assassin is: an overall ganker, a strong early game power house, a strong support, disabler, nuker, item dependent, a roamer, dagon dependent, a squishy bug, a beetle, a n assassin that has massive burst damage, can deal up to 2,175 damage max with vendetta, impale, mana burn, dagon, shiva's, balanced.
Nerubian Assassin is not: a carry, a late gamer, an orb user, a dps dealer, a jungler/farmer, much of a tank, a cockroach, weak, imbalanced.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Feel The Venom Of Nerub- The deadly venom, the combo that stings
Try to pull this off.
One of the most lethal combos in all dota: Use Vendetta, Impale, Mana burn, Dagon accordingly, then Eul's one of the enemy backups, use pipe, guinsoo your main target, Shiva's arctic blast, attack with your allies, put mjolnir(
) on yourself or someone else if bought. When dying, use Mekansm.
Result: Genocide/ Annihalation/ Rampage/ Beyond Godlike/ GG
Here is an example of the venom of Nerub when dagon is acquired:

The following may be used in early game, but ineffective in late game
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Being at the right place at the right time: Remember, timing is key, so a level 6 vendetta will not last long, always make sure that:
- your enemy is in range/ sight.
- they are far away from a tower.
- you are close enough to the target.
- you're allies are aware of the incoming gank.
- incoming enemies won't reach you.
For example: At the middle lane, troll and Anti-Mage are pushing, where do you go? Ofcourse behind them, always check for dusts, gem or sentry wards on their item slots before rambo-ing in.Then wait for allies to come, and bam. Who do you choose between the two? Troll, because he doesn't have an escape mechanism.
A level 11 Vendetta lasts a decent amount of time, so you don't have to worry about it much. A level 16 vendetta lasts a very long time.
Hiding in the bushes is also a smart thing to do, when enemy is spotted, always look if they are retreating or not so that your vendetta does not go to waste, when they decide not to retreat, follow them, call allies then gank.
As said above, map awareness is important. If you spotted a naix/troll in the jungle because of planted beetles, hurry and gank them, it will demoralize jungling drastically.
VII. Bug - Friendly and Pesticides/ Bug Sprays
[I][COLOR="white"]A) Very Good Allies
B) Very bad pesticides
C) Fodders to look out for
D) Other Bug Sprays
VII. Bug Friendly Environment And Pesticides
A. Very Good Allies:
B. Pesticides:
Location give-aways

They give away your location even when invisible. The solution is to stay away from its casting and cast vendetta from a far distance.
Fellow Nukers:

Since you are a squishy bug, nukers will spray the shit out of you. Solution ofcourse is Hood of Defiance/Pipe
Game Breakers:

They mess up your whole routine, they mess up everything that you will attempt to do
Worse than Game Breakers "Silencers"
What's worse than game breakers? Silencers ofcourse! No Spell means they can step on you all over while you can't do anything about it. Magic immunity is a viable thing when it comes to this.
Uber Bashers and Carries:
Once they are so fed that there's more room for bugs to get eaten. Just say your prayers and if lucky get a blademail.
Disablers:
Special Mentions:
Puck has Auto Phase shift in case you attack him while in vendetta, now is that not a problem? Also, He's a nuker, and has a gamebreaking dream coil, he's just your worst nightmare.
Mr. Total Shut Down. His name says it all- You will be doomed when you face him-
When the background story tooltip said that "Even the famed assassin Anub'arak is hesitant to fight this beast, which comes from the plane of the spirit world." They were correct and accurate. Why? First: Shukuchi escape plan ruins every gank attempt. 2nd: Time Lapse justs make the "Venom Of Nerub" useless since your combo only takes about 3 sec to cast everything. So after you have cast everything on him, he absorbs everything then goes back to time, laugh at you and make you look like a dumbass.

| I have not seen a detailed guide of Nerubian Assassin here in PD so i was inspired by the lack of NA guides. Since he is one of my favorite heroes, he shouldn't be left out. Nerubian is sometimes underrated and not very often seen in competitive although i do see some now. Lets get started. |

A Bug's Life( The hero's Role): Nerubian Assassin's Role is mainly 2 things: Ganking and Supporting the team. His alternative role is an anti-mage. When Ganking, use vendetta to initiate sequence " Operation Sting". After Vendetta, Impale and mana burn and let your allies do the rest. Always remember to destroy the most fragile one first. Never go alone unless you're confident enough that your victim will die, or else you would look like a dumbass.
The Pro's and Con's
The Pro's/ Advantages of being a bug
+ Has decent stat gain
+ Has great synergy amongst his skills( except carapace)
+ The deadly combo, AKA the venom of nerub( will see later on)

+ Has decent movement speed
+ Has 2 good nukes, and a stun

+ The fear of all Int heroes

+ The most lethal escape and initiating skill( Vendetta)

+ One of the best Gankers in the game
+ Early- mid game is his prime. Beef em up early

+ Spikes on his back??? Ouch

+ Escape mechanisms( impale and vendetta)
+ Deals great amount of damage in a single combo
+ Good against destructive Melee Heroes
+ Has free wards
+ Has a bug that silences

The Con's/ Disadvantages
- The Bigger the bug, the more they'll spray. Huge bug means Huge target.
- Has relatively low starting str, agi and int.
- A squishy bug
- An agility hero that has no ability to semi-carry( for balance purposes)
- Broodmama follows him around. (Brood)
(Nerub)
- Countered easily by gem, bkb, HoD/ Pipe, etc.
- Not good against destructive ranged heroes.
- Item Dependent
- Not very efficient against tanks.
- Not as efficient in Late Game
- Impale nerfed
Skill Builds
The Usual/Recommended build:
Level 1- Impale
Level 2- Urna Swarm
Level 3- Impale
Level 4- Mana Burn
Level 5- Impale
Level 6- Vendetta
Level 7- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 8- Mana Burn/Impale
Level 9- Mana Burn
Level 10- Mana Burn
Level 11- Vendetta
Level 12- Urna Swarm/ Stats
Level 13- Urna Swarm/ Stats
Level 14- Stats
Level 15- Stats
Level 16- Vendetta
Level 17-25- Stats
Justification: Impale is a No-Brainer, it should always be taken first unless you prefer mana burn on a situation wherein the enemy has devastating nukes. Impale and Mana Burn should be Maxed in this type of skillbuild, except for the 1 level of Urna Swarm, instead of buying wards, put 1 level of urna swarm, it only requires one level and it lasts indefinitely, this is for anti ganking of the enemy. Vendetta is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS taken whenever possible, it is the ultimate ganking/ initiating skill, never cease to skip it.Urna Swarm is also always taken early on, before or after impale because it gives free wards. Stats or another level of Urna Swarm is taken after: impale and mana burn are maxed, for more wards around the jungle and a silencing bug shut-down. Usually, stats are taken before urna swarm, but now at least a level 2 Urna swarm will suffice. After that, it's all stats.
The Pub Build, Unrecommended!
Level 1- Impale
Level 2- Mana Burn
Level 3- Mana Burn / Impale
Level 4- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 5- Mana Burn / Impale
Level 6- Vendetta
Level 7- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 8- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 9- Impale / Mana Burn
Level 10- Urna Swarm
Level 11- Vendetta
Level 12- Urna Swarm
Level 13- Stats
Level 14- Urna Swarm
Level 15- Stats
Level 16- Vendetta
Level 17- Urna Swarm
Level 18- Stats
Level 19- Stats
Level 20- Stats
Level 21-25- Stats
Justification: This is a pub skill-build in exchange for Urna. Hence you will not have free wards but! your nuking power increases.
The Pros: More Nuking Power
The Cons: Less Survivability, Less ganking and Bigger chance to get ganked
See why this is unrecommended? Its a pub skillbuild.
The avoid bug spray and survivability build
Level 1- Impale
Level 2- Urna Swarm
Level 3- Impale
Level 4- Stats
Level 5- Impale
Level 6- Vendetta
Level 7- Impale
Level 8- Stats
Level 9- Stats
Level 10- Stats
Level 11- Vendetta
Level 12- Mana Burn
Level 13- Mana Burn
Level 14- Mana Burn
Level 15- Mana Burn
Level 16- Vendetta
Level 17-25: Stats/ Urna Swarm
Justification: For me this is very situational, the only time you will do this IMO is when there are devastating nukers. He is very soft so stats would be a nice substitute for Urna. The reason why we get mana burn later on is because that is the moment when it really shines, Int heroes will beg for mercy. Usual build is still promoted and popular.
A Closer Look
Impale's Effect:

Impale and its Range:

Impale is to stun and push a lane with the wave of creeps coming in. It should be spammed in mid-late game when Mana items are acquired.
Mana Burn

Mana Burn is to empty the enemy's mana, usually on mana-dependent heroes.
Following is :Vendetta/ Mana Burn/ Impale/ Dagon( not a skill)

Item Builds:
THE EARLY GAME:
The Starting Build: Always remember that Nerub needs mana and stats early on to survive a lane. Next Priority is leveling up and the last is killing.
The CHOICES:
This is the Classic Starting Build(Version 6.20-50)

As you can see the classic way requires Iron Wood Branches, Tangos and clarity potions:
At least 3 ironwood branches, 2 tango and 2 clarity is needed in this build.
Why these?:
Purpose: This is a mediocre build, for stats and survivability. It is actually decent to upgrade into mekansm during the v6.40's.
Cost: 439 G
------------------------------------------------------------------
The Bottle Era( 6.40- 6.66b) The Empty bottle Why Bottle? Purpose: Its spam friendly on your skills, it gives decent amount of hp and mp back when lacking life and mana. Usually used when soloing, but is also viable on dual lanes. Cost: 600 G |
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Ring Of Basilius: The fellowship of the Ring, The usual build.
Why Ring?
Purpose: It is spam- friendly for impale and mana burn, it gives armor and the mana regen and armor aura is decent early on, your team mates will love you.
Upgrade to Vlad
Cost: 590 G
------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic wand takes over DotA: The Recent/ Hip build.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Cost: 400 G
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Urn Seizes Power: The Latest/ Most recent item fit for a build.
It needs
If you choose this build, it should look like this:
then make the necessary upgrades:

Mekansm: A very nice support item, heals your allies around you when they need it most, gives armor too on top of that
, a very classic support item.Assault Cuirass:It may be a DPS item, but this is not for your own benefit, this is actually a support/ situational item( buy when no one in your team has it).

( Please don't take this seriously)Buriza-Do-Kyanon: Very optional, i would have put this in the rejected items, but it seems fun to use it after vendettas
NOT RECOMMENDED and Pretty much neclected so you'll also see this in rejected itemsOK ITEMS TO CHOOSE
You can also put the buff on your team's carry
. This Optional Orb is Legit.REJECTED ITEMS:
The Lovebug( support):

[I][COLOR="white"]A) Very Good Allies
