Introduction to Nevermore
First of all I would like to tell you that this is my first DotA guide ever.
Nevermore's best defence is his offence, though Nevermore requires a rather experienced DotA player to be able to take full potential of him.
That doesn't mean new players won't be able to play him, especially for those who want a challenge.
And in my opinion Nevermore is the most fun hero to play with, given he has insane lane control, and potentially dealing loads of damage; it's possible to do more than 1000 damage on level 9, simply by nukes.
I hope you will enjoy this guide, and post some feedback.

Nevermore's Story

A demon of the burning legion so abhorred that he makes the skin of even his fellow demons crawl, Nevermore is a creature of the shadows that consumes the souls of those around him. When the Shadow Fiend comes forth to battle, he augments his power with the souls he has consumed, bearing down on his enemies with spiritually enhanced attacks and powerful spiritual blasts. The Shadow Fiend is a terrifying opponent whom few have survived, and those who have perished under his tyranny have faced the most despicable fate of all.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • Insane damage output
  • AoE amplifying passive and ultimate skill
  • 3 very strong AoE nukes
  • Strong lane control (solo)
  • Notorious hero to fear in all stages of the game

Cons
  • No escape mechanism, at all!
  • Item dependent on later stages of the game (mid, late)
  • Often focused first by enemies during teamfights
  • Low base health/STR gain

Sneak-a-Peak

Let's take a look at Nevermore, shall we?

Base stats at level 1, with no items.

* Affiliation: Scourge
* Attack Animation: 0.5 / 0.54
* Damage: 35 - 41
* Casting Animation: 0.67 / 0.4
* Armor: 1.9
* Base Attack Time: 1.7
* Movespeed: 300
* Missile Speed: 1200
* Attack Range: 500
* Sight Range: 1800 / 800

That looks pretty decent, but wait; look at his base damage!
It's only 15 damage away from techies' base damage. But no worries, let's carry on to the skill part.

Nevermore's set of skills
Quote:
Shadow Raze (HOTKEY: Z / X / C)
When this skill is taken, Nevermore will be given 3 new skills instead of one, each dealing the same amount of damage.
Press the ''Show'' button below to view the information about those skills.

(HOTKEY: Z)

Level 1: 75 damage 200 units in front of you
Level 2: 150 damage 200 units in front of you
Level 3: 225 damage 200 units in front of you
Level 4: 300 damage 200 units in front of you

(HOTKEY: X)

Level 1: 75 damage 450 units in front of you
Level 2: 150 damage 450 units in front of you
Level 3: 225 damage 450 units in front of you
Level 4: 300 damage 450 units in front of you

(HOTKEY: C)

Level 1: 75 damage 700 units in front of you
Level 2: 150 damage 700 units in front of you
Level 3: 225 damage 700 units in front of you
Level 4: 300 damage 700 units in front of you
*Note that this skill's range is longer than your attack range.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS SKILL CASTS INSTANTLY, MEANING YOU ARE NOT GOING TO SELECT AN AREA AND IT WILL RAZE 75/150/225/300 DAMAGE 200/450/700 UNITS IN FRONT OF YOU

These skills all have a seperate cooldown, which means you can deal 900 magical damage if you manage to hit all 3 of the razes.

Real damage output would be:
0.75 * 900 = 675 for all razes
0.75 * 300 = 225 for 1 raze

This skills gives you a nice amount of lane control, try to harass your opponent from time to time (preferably with ''C'' and/or ''X'') as soon as this skill is level 2, 75 damage doesn't make a big difference. And a level 1 shadow raze should only be used when you get the chance to kill 2 creeps in 1 hit, and you're not able to kill them with your normal attack; otherwise it's a waste of mana.

Manacost: 75
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Quote:
Necro Mastery (HOTKEY: N)
This skill is to compensate for your low base damage, each and every unit you kill, this includes: Heroes, enemy creep kills, creep denies & neutral creep kills will add 2 damage, however; this is capped.

Level 1: A maximum of 16 added damage.
Level 2: A maximum of 30 added damage.
Level 3: A maximum of 46 added damage.
Level 4: A maximum of 60 added damage.

This skills adds you an intense amount of lane control due the high damage it gives you, however you have to build it up because you start with a rather low base damage.
