Mangix the Pandaren Brewmaster
By iPope-

Foreword
Let's face it, Mangix is a drunk. But he's an extremely useful and practical drunk. This panda is one of the strongest strength heroes on the Sentinel side, not only because of his high stat growth, but his extremely nasty ultimate, Primal Split. When used correctly, Mangix is a powerhouse and the opposing team's worst nightmare. I'm writing this guide to educate and lead people to using panda to his fullest potential and give him the light he so deserves.

Play this hero if you:
  • Can Micro 3-5 Units in the thick of battle
  • Like to devestate team battles with An AoE slow and a crushing critical strike
  • Can use a Blink Dagger effectively to Initiate Ganks or Escape unharmed
  • Can identify and select the highest Damage Dealer on the opposing team in the middle of a team battle

Don't Play this Hero if you:
  • Have the micro of a 3-fingered Soccer Mom
  • Have low to little reflexes to effectively use blink dagger and Primal Split
  • Feel that Mangix is a "1337 dps battlefury hero"

Skills Overview

Quote:

Thunder Clap

Ability Type: Active
Targeting Type: Area
Ability Hotkey: C
Slams the ground, dealing damage and slowing the movement speed and attack rate of nearby enemy land units.

Level 1 - 100 damage, 25% movement and attack speed reductions.
Level 2 - 175 damage, 35% movement and attack speed reductions.
Level 3 - 250 damage, 45% movement and attack speed reductions.
Level 4 - 300 damage, 55% movement and attack speed reductions.

Duration: 4.25s (8.5s on creeps)
Mana Cost: 90/105/130/150
Cooldown:12s
Area of Effect:400
This is your bread and butter skill. it slows, it deals good damage, and a relatively low cooldown. The mana cost can be taxing, but it is manageable. The Damage is Magical.

Drunken Haze

Ability Type: Active
Targeting Type: Unit
Ability Hotkey: D
Drenches an enemy unit in alcohol, causing his movement speed to be reduced, and causing his attacks to have a chance to miss.

Level 1 - 10% movement speed reduction, 45% miss chance.
Level 2 - 14% movement speed reduction, 55% miss chance.
Level 3 - 18% movement speed reduction, 65% miss chance.
Level 4 - 22% movement speed reduction, 75% miss chance.

Duration: 7s (12s on creeps)
Mana Cost: 50
Cooldown: 12s
Area of Effect: 10
This spell is used almost solely for reducing the opposing team's physical carry to a nearly worthless factor for 7 seconds. The slow is almost a non-factor because the casting time for it is extremely slow. It will give a quick slow for allies to catch up, however.

Drunken Brawler

Ability Type: Passive
Targeting Type: N/A
Ability Hotkey: B
Gives a chance to avoid attacks and to deal 2x critical damage.

Level 1 - 6% dodge, 5% chance to critical.
Level 2 - 12% dodge, 10% chance to critical.
Level 3 - 18% dodge, 15% chance to critical.
Level 4 - 24% dodge, 20% chance to critical.

Duration: N/A
Mana Cost: N/A
Cooldown: N/A
Area of Effect: N/A
This skill is what carries panda into late game while his Ult is Down. With 24% dodge, he can tank relatively well and with a 2x crit he can deal a fair amount of damage.

Primal Split

Level 3 - Summons three really freaking mighty Pandas for 19(26) seconds.

Duration: 15(20*)/17(23*)/19(26*)
Mana Cost: 125/150/175
Cooldown: 180(150*)/150(120*)/120(90*)
Area of Effect: N/A

*Denotes the stats with Aghanim's Scepter
Ahh, this Skill always brings tears to my eyes because of how ridiculously good it is. Each Panda has specialized skills, but really all you need to know is Earth has Boulder, Wind has Cyclone, Dispel Magic, and Windwalk, and Fire has Permanent Immolation. This skill can make or break team fights when used correctly.

Explanation:

Thunder Clap should be maxed first because the damage and slow both increase as you progress in levels. Extremely useful in ganks and escaping.

Drunken Haze is a great skill for Panda, however it shouldn't be leveled until you have a sufficient mana pool. taking one point early will help if you have a hero in the lane that is Physically oriented (troll, void, PA). otherwise save it for 12-15.

Drunken Brawler is a great skill, but is only useful near late-game. Taking it 17-20 is the soonest time after stats you should get it. Some may say it is helpful in escaping ganks, but if they can still chase you after your 15-19 second ultimate, the chances are the 24% Dodge won't keep you alive.

Because of Panda's ridiculously low beginning mana pool and INT Gain, it is a MUST that you take Stats early game. i recommend taking 4-5 early which will give enough mana for an extra Thunder Clap or Primal Split.

Lanes to Choose

Dual Lanes are optimal when it comes to Panda. With a good partner, It can turn into a level 3 First Blood lane. Coupled with a disable, panda can be a real terror.

Solo Lane is a real no-no. Panda's Area of Influence is extremely low (about 400 range) so he is harassed easily. With no true escape mechanism or disable until level 6, he will be underleveled or have a few deaths.

Jungling is a bad idea with Panda. Although he has high Hp, He doesn't have a good jungle ability.
