This guide is a one that I made to some topic, and after some of my friends saw it they said that I should publish it "offically".
This guide is not finished. If you guys say that it is good start I will improve it - Pictures, more tinkering about the builds, lineups etc. and better punctuation / grammar. Your feedback IS important, it will decide if this guide will be ever finished.
How can you help?
- Point mistakes in grammar. English isn't my native language, so there are some mistakes, and I want to improve.
- Tell me if you disagree with my builds, or if I should add something into them (thought remember to tell me what is wrong, it won't help if you say "LOL THIS GUIDE SUCKS LOOK AT THE ITEM BUILD!1!1!")
- Generally tell me what you liked or didn't like in the guide.
Anyway, here comes the actual guide:
-----------
Tinkering about!
Have you ever tinkered about playing the most intelligent, cool, & mechanical hero? The hero that can push all 3 lanes at the same time while still killing enemy heroes? And who most importantly has LAZERBEAMS
Go to mid or jungle (look for GodlyKhas guide if need help in jungling http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?t=971756).
-> If jungle stack ancients, buy Sobi + possible tangoes. Pretty straightforward if you know what you are doing.
-> If mid you should ask if someone in your team buys set of wards and courier. You need that runeward so you don't waste time going to wrong spot and if the enemy has wards and you dont he wins those runes pretty easily.
In the start either buy 1 set of tangoes and 3 GG branches, or mayby straight bottle. If you get the first option you should buy the bottle ASAP, so you can begin to harass enemy with your nukes and get runecontrol. After you got your bottle + possible branches you should do whatever it takes to get that 2.5k for boots + BoT recipe as fast as possible (you MAY buy Soul Ring before BoT, but usually I go straight into BoT). Gank if the other lanes need it very badly, or if the kill is ensured (and hope you get the lasthit) but remember that you are bit like Nightstalker - you can hardly gank on day, and as a Tinker your permanent night begins on about 10-15 minutes (if on lane, junglers may get Travels bit before if done right).
After you got your Travels your real game begins. It goes somewhat like this: Look for empty or not threatening lane, TP to your creeps, March of the machines, (Rockets if there is an enemy), Bottle, Soul ring -> Rearm. Rinse and repeat, get the lasthits of the enemy creeps and if you have mana or the lane is still empty you can proceed to the next creep wave. If you can't see enemies you should stay on lane with high caution, in my opinion it is just better to TP back to fountain to regen and find a new creep wave than have the risk of getting killed while staying too long on same lane. If you get silenced, stunned, nuked or pretty much harmed by any way you are pretty much dead, since your only "escape mechanism" is your high movespeed and possible blink / force / ghost scepter followed by TP.
Usually when I play Tinker I quickly outfarm enemies and our own team in both lasthits and experience. That usually means that enemies want to focus you, so you should play like Sniper in this matter - stay unseen, use your marchies and rockets and stay as far from the enemies as you can, since Tinker has pretty low HP and gets killed very easily if not cautious.
Skillbuilds:
March of the machines build - use if there is a Broodmother or another hero who doesn't like AoE, if jungling, or if you want to FARM as well as possible.
March 4,5,7,9
Rockets 2,3,6,8
Laser 1, 11, 12, 13
Rearm comes when it looks like that you are getting Travels before next levelup. It is better to take too early than too late, since it is pretty awkward to not have when your Travels are in your inventory. Further levels are taken when you feel you have the mana to use them. You may take one level of Laser for the miss change if there is hero like Ursa in enemys team, but this is up to you.
Nukebuild
Laser 1, 4, 6, 8
Rockets 2, 3, 5, 7
March 10, 11, 12, 13
Rearm when needed, see above
Items: 3 GG branch + Tango (/ Sobi + possible tangoes) -> Bottle -> Travels -> Soul ring -> Shivas / Blink / Hex / Force / Ghost Scepter / Dagon / whatever you and your team needs.
