Terrorblade, The Soul Keeper
Disclaimer
With the recent change in TB and the introduction of new equipments, all of which are viable to TB, I am open to all sorts of suggestions made by you,the people. Please post on my Visitors Profile
All help is appreciated and will be instantly integrated into the guide, provided it is backed with some justifications.
Introduction
The Soul Keeper has one of the most feared growth potentials of all. While initially weak, if left unchecked he can come back to slaughter his enemies with ease. His ability to Soul Steal allows him to slowly siphon life from one target to himself. To aid in his physical prowess, Terrorblade can Metamorphosis into the powerful demon hunter, gaining a ranged attack and additional life. He can also Conjure Images to deceive or simply unleash them upon his enemies. Some have questioned his mortality, as he can Sunder to swap his current health with that of someone robust and lively, essentially escaping death, and sending someone close to their own
Author's Opinion
Terrorblade (referred to as simply TB hence forth) was the Ursa of 6.54 and below. Once considered highly over powered in competitive games and "imba" in pubs, he was one to fear. The game has changed,TB has not (How unfortunate). This guide has been made with the very purpose of trying to give some retarded people out there an idea of how TB is meant to be played in the current meta game. I am not going to show you afk rice farm like Zesty (no offense) and come back to win an already won game.)

Skills
Soul Steal :

• Damage type: magical
• Damage absorbed is equal to the actual damage dealt, meaning that resistances will reduce the amount of hp gained.
• Will continue to drain as long as the target stays within 600 range from Terrorblade.
• Soul Steal instantly destroys illusions in it's first damage tick.
• Can target an enemy or allied unit. Tranfsers life away from you if cast on an ally and to you if cast on an enemy.
• Not Channeling, ends if Link Range is broken
Authors Notes :
After so many versions of negligence, this spell received the buff it sorely needed. This spell is no longer channeling and can now be used to heal yourself to make laning easier. You can even use it to help out an ally in need since you can easily get the HP lost by soul stealing a creep/melee opponent.

Conjure Image :

Authors Notes :
Your steroid spell. This spell is what defines TB.
Make no mistake, they are the second strongest illusions in the game. The short cooldown is also something to brag about.

Metamorphosis :

• Terrorblade gains 20 additional movement speed when under Metamophosis.
• Metamorphosed Terrorblade regenerates 3 HP per second as opposed to normal 0.25.
• While in this state, Terrorblade will have a Base Attack Time of 1.6 seconds.
Authors Notes :
This spell is good enough to be his ultimate! It makes you ranged with all the benefits of a melee hero. This also makes you the only person in the game who can naturally spawn ranged illusions.Beware of its Ultimate like cooldown !

Sunder :

• Damage type: direct HP removal
• Interrupts channeling spells of the target.
• Magic immunity on the target or Terrorblade will prevent that unit from having their HP changed. The other unit will still change its hp correctly.
Authors Notes :
Your Ultimate and a pretty worthy one too.It instantly changes the tide of the battle and is good enough to be compared to Reincarnation.Allowed targets are only heroes, so please do not attempt to Sunder Roshan.

Justifications (Do you always need one?)
Soul steal is no longer avoided as you are no longer vulnerable to open fire and harassment. However it can be skipped if you are faring well enough without it.
Meta is your laning skill which allows you to harass melee opponents as well as farm while avoiding harassment.
One level of Conjure Image is taken as the mana cost increases with every level and you will eventually run out of mana.
Sunder is taken whenever possible.
Stats are taken early because TB is a illusioned based hero (duh?) and his starting stats are abysmal.
Jungling built :
Take one level of Conjure for the same reasons.Soul Steal can be taken to heal your self while jungling.Stats are strictly optional.Skip Sunder at level 6 since will not be needing it and it is too mana intensive.Meta is still taken to open the possiblity of KS'ing the side lanes.
Item Build
Starting Equipment :
This is the standard starting equipment you should buy.Needless to mention it is the most efficient use of your 603 gold.
If you intend to jungle, however,go for a
After the Starting Equipment rush for :
This is probably the best equipment for all hard carries.Combined with quelling, this gives you devastating last hit capability.More notably, you can go ranged while still keeping the benefits of a melee Quelling/PMS.It may seem abysmal, but these subtle advantages really help in the long run .Leave the PMS at stout shield if you intend to jungle though.Stout/PMS can be sold later.
Boots need no explanation. (Assuming you have an IQ of at least 50)
Mid Game to Late Game (around the 20 - 40 minute mark) :
Here is where it gets tricky. You could either go for :
1)
Authors Note :
To quote Cp6uja_, "The era of Ricing is over".
This built is highly expensive, but if you are a last hitting and gank avoiding god, you can go for it.The immolation is a welcome relief from last hitting and together with BoT,you will be able to farm multiple lanes.
EoS is gotten for the stats it provides and a potent slow which will make you a killing machine.
2)
Authors Note :
Cheap and offers durability, something which TB lacks.Get these if you really cant farm that well or are a gank magnet.
SnY provides nice stats,HP,Acttack Speed,Move Speed and a chance to slow.
Massing up Wraiths is a nice way to increase stats and strengthen illusions.
3)
Authors Note :
Manta maximizes illusions and the 0.1 second of invulnerability may come in handy in dodging nasty spells. This built is also easily made as most of it comes in small parts.
Diffusal is a good item on most agility heroes and TB is no exception.Purge gives a handy disable and feedback burns your enemies mana in the wink of an eye due to your high attack speed.Keep in mind that Ranged Illusions do not get FeedBack. Also Manta cancels Meta unless shift - queue'd
I suggest this built to most of the average players out there.
4)
Authors Note :
This is what I like to get.It makes you a stat monster and worthy to be the strongest illusion hero in the game. Its even simple to build up since early Wraiths provide you with everything you need to survive and farm up your core.
Don't forget to make these! You could have upgraded it earlier but that simply slows down your farming without offering much benefits.BoT is not worth it if you do not have a Radiance.Upgrade to it whenever possible to push multiple lanes and build pressure on your opponents.
Late Game :
All of the following are worthy enough to be considered your late game luxury:
Authors Note :
ButterFly : It gives Evasion,Attack Speed,Damage and Agility. What else could you ask for?
Satanic : It utilizes your DPS to keep you alive.Get his if you really want o own some butt.
Assault Cuirass : It gives you massive Armor and Attack Speed as well as an Attack Speed Aura.Get this if no one in your team is getting it already. The Negative Armor on your opponents is just the cherry on the cake.
Cranium Basher : For those who went for SnY this is a good alternative for a disable. Your high attack speed will make you bash so often, the opponents will cry "Hack!!".
Black King Bar : To ensure that you do not get perma-disabled or nuked to death.
Crystalys : xLightOfHeavenx once made 2 Crystalys on his Tb.Ever since this built is pretty much popular. It gives nice damage boost and an awesome critical.Getting 2 of these is more cost effective than getting a Buriza.
Rejected Items
Authors Note :
Reasons are simple :
Divine : Direct damage does not transfer over to illusions and is pretty much useless.
Lothar + Dagon : This is the most ridiculous thing on the internet. It makes you utterly useless late game and you are not even made for ganking. Please do not get this or I will personally burn you into the ground.
Vladimir : No,seriously I have seen people get this. This is bull shit on a hero that can go ranged.Get satanic instead.
Brain Build
When and When not to Pick: :
When to Pick :
1) When your team can afford to or tolerate a 4 v 5 game for at least 30 minutes.
2) You trust your team mates and know how they will react to situations.
3) When the opponent team lacks much of AOE Casters, Disablers or Gankers. (Obviously all three cant be absent, so pick the one you are most comfortable with)
4) The opponent team has a weak late game potential.
When not to Pick :
1) When opponents have multiple AOE Casters, Disablers or Gankers. Always stay clear of the Earth Shaker.
2) When the opponent has good anti-carries like Bane Elemental.
3) When you trust neither your team mates nor yourself .
The Jungle : Survival of the Fittest :
With the recent buff to Soul Steal and the introduction of the Soul Ring, TB's jungling style has undergone a sea change. Prior to v6.67, one level of Conjure was taken and then Stats were maxed up.This method has become redundant now.The new and improved method of jungling is given below.
Quote:
|
Your starting equipment remains the same.Head off to a safe and peaceful lane, preferably with a supporter, and leech experience. Your goal as of now, is to somehow stack up 1050 gold (800 for Soul Ring and 250 for Stout) without dieing.Once this is done head for the jungle. While TB can jungle from level 1, he's rather slow until he gets a few levels and his Soul Ring, and is also pull and spawn reliant. Till then you are better off babysitted. Once you get Soul Ring , your typical combo is: Sacrifice Image Soul Steal the strongest neutral creep Have both, your image and you, beat up the other. Your Soul Ring will pretty much cool down more or less at each camp, allowing you to jungle very fast and almost indefinitely. |
Early Game :
Buy your stating gear and go to the top lane for scourge and bottom lane for sentinel (ideally). However, if your opponents are smart and are planning a tri-lane or other such shenanigans, call immediately for a lane switch. Then again, do not walk over to your new lane.Ferry a Teleportation Scroll through your courier and TP there. Its much more faster.Try your best to get your support player to lane with you.Play as defensively as you can, tower hug if needed.Try to last hit as many creeps as you can since there is no use of you just leveling up but do not risk yourself.
If you are against a lane controller immediately call for a lane switch. If thats not possible, just stay back and leech experience, you can only farm if you live so dieing is not an alternative.Try to get your PMS + Boots. That should help you out with your harassment problem.Call for constant ganks on your opponent to shift the pressure onto the opponents and make them play defensively.
If you are against a weak early gamer (most probably another carry),deny and farm like a god who fears none.
If all fails, and your start game goes horribly wrong, make an attempt at jungling. If your opponents stalk you all over the map and hinder jungling, stick with your team and make do with cheaper equipments like massing up Wraith Bands and them make an attempt of building up SnY.
Summing up Early Game :
Farm,Farm,Farm and DO NOT DIE!
Mid Game :
Assuming your early game was decent, you should be heading towards your orb of choice or radiance.Participate in team fights you know you will win and avoid those that you may lose. Continue your pace of farming and push with your team to take down enemy towers.Stick with your team as you will most likely be the target of N number of ganks (where N is any natural number between 0 - 50).Head towards late game and wait for your moment to shine.
Summing up Mid Game :
Stay safe and please try this.
Late Game :
This is your time to shine.Show those filthy opponents what you are made of.Take down towers as if they were made out of butter. Ask all your allies to focus their main disables and the rival carry. Push and Win to end the farce .
If you played well until now you should be able to do this :
Summing Up Late Game :
Win!!!!
What is your Role in a Team Fight? :
First off, you need to learn the use of the following equipment:
Its called a Brain. It is priceless and gives :
- Infinite Intelligence
- Common Sense (Passive)
In a team fight :
1) Go ranged and start Spamming Illusions
2) Keep yourself out of harms way while still keeping close enough to deal damage or try Soul Stealing the opponent who has melee range spells to make his run around like a retard whose ass is on fire and eventually miss time his spells.
3) Focus down their important hero's.This revolves purely around your judgement.Judge who is the better player and terminate him to cause havoc in your opponent's team.
4) Opponent Retreating ? Let them but make sure you take down their towers.
5) Lost the fight? Go farm some more and try again.
6) Your team mates are noobs? Alt + QQ.
Friends And Foes
Friends
Notice a pattern? They are all healers, disablers or lane controllers one way or the other. These guys help you get past the painful laning stage and into late game where all the action lies in store for you.Use this pattern of supporters to carefully pick your laning ally.
Why I included Slardar and Bristleback? Because TB is a PHYSICAL damage dealer. These people reduce opponent armor and also have the capability to slow/stun the enemy.
Special Mentions To :
Rylai : She has two disables and you have none. She also has a Brilliance aura that allows you to spam your images whenever needed.A good support Rylai is essential to the success of most carries and TB is no exception.
Dazzle : He has a heal and a semi nuke.He also has powers which enhance physical DPS through armor reduction.Lane with him whenever possible.
Warlock : He has a very strong heal which doubles as a Nuke/DoT. HE is also one of the best babysitters out there. Unlike other support heroes that become somewhat redundant in team battles, Warlock's feared ultimate, the Rain of Chaos, constantly makes his presence felt. He also has fatal bonds, which will allow you to deal damage to many opponents at once (which is otherwise not possible.)Notice that he also has a slow. What more could you ask for.
Foes
All these people come in the general category of Disablers. They are your most hated opponents. They make you entirely useless and you tiring farm simply pales in comparison to their disabling strength.
A special mention to ES.He has three stuns of his own plus an ultimate that deals more damage the more units you have around you. illusions included.
Get a BKB as soon as possible if you want to stand a chance against these guys.
Invisible Gankers. You are simply food for them early on in the game.Proper team co-ordination is essential to stop them from wreaking havoc amongst your ranks.
The Rival Carry. But fear not! They are as much of a threat to you as you are to them.
Be on the look out for Obsidian however. His Pure Damage Orb makes TB's high armor insignificant and eats up all your images while Obsidian strips you in Sanity's Eclipse.
Guess what ? His ultimate stops all forms of regeneration INCLUDING Sunder and is global. You definitely want him dead.
Ingame Tips
• All ways try to go Meta before participating in team battles. You are the only natural Ranged Image Creator. Capitalize on this advantage and create your Meta Illusions.Make sure to spread them out so that they do not get into each others way. This also prevents a single AOE nuke from finishing them all out at once.
• If you know death is inevitable try to use up all your gold in buying your equipment before you die. This saves the gold you would have otherwise lost.
• Alternatively, you could try to cast Soul Steal on your opponent and watch your health rise while his falls. If he is foolish enough to chase you, finish him off with Meta once you gather sufficient health.
• Do not wait to sunder at the last moment. You will most probably get nuked to death or disabled as soon as your HP falls dangerously low. Always attempt a Sunder (if it is inevitable) at 1/3 of your maximum HP (when the color of your Hp is turning red from orange) .
• When escaping, don't run back blindly to your base.Remember Sunder can turn the tides of the battle. If a timely Sunder can save you while netting you/your ally a kill, do not hesitate to do it.
• For those who went for Manta, bear in mind that activating Manta will instantly make you melee. A work around to this problem is Shift Queuing. How to Shift Queue? See below :
You can Shift Queue by holding down the Shift key + Issuing a move command to some distance away + activate both Meta and Manta before TB reaches his destination + Release Shift Key.
Quote:
|
1. Hold down the shift key and select a location on the map to create a flag point: See the flag marked in the red circle above. Terrorblade will now move to the flag point. 2. Keep holding down the shift key while Terrorblade moves to the flag point. Press metamorphosis and Manta style, one after the other (order does not matter), remembering to simultaneously hold down the shift key during the sequence. Terrorblade will metamorphosis and create 2 ranged images once he reaches the flag point. It is useful to use Conjure Image immediately after this sequence to create a total of four ranged TBs! |

Guide To Juking by Lycan
• The chief threat while jungling is the fear of a gank. The following map should help you avoid/survive those scuffles in the forests :
Quote:
|
The green dots represent the Sentinel towers. The yellow stars represent your allies in mid and bot lanes. If you are in danger of a gank, seek your towers and your allies. This makes the enemy hesitate and possibly cancel their gank. It can lead also lead to a counter-gank. Hence, your main escape routes are towards your towers and allies, as illustrated by the thin light blue and yellow arrows. The thick purple arrows highlight the three main entrances into the Sentinel's jungle for the Scourge. It is clear that the two neutral camps (1 small and 1 large) parallel to mid lane are the safest camps to farm, as noted by the squiggly green boundary because they are furthest from the Scourge's entrance points. The other camps are near the entrance points and are higher risk areas. Watch the position of the Scourge heroes at all times. Whenever mid lane or bot lane go missing, you face a real risk of being ganked. You should proceed to the safer camps next to mid lane, or return to either mid or bot lane and farm creeps. An additional point: from my experience, the two greatest gank spots are the two orange diamonds. It is useful to follow the yellow arrows when being ganked. This is because you are likely to encounter enemies converging from the middle and bottom lanes onto the two orange diamonds. By following the yellow arrow, you force the enemies coming from bottom to go past the 2nd Sentinel tower (more dangerous) to intercept you because of the line of trees that acts as a safe divide. |

Last Words
The "soul" purpose of this guide was to give the average masses an idea of how to play TB.This guide in no way ensures success and in also not the only way to play TB.All criticism is accepted but please bear in mind that this is my first guide.
FAQ
1> I totally disagree with your item built and whole heartedly believe mine is better !
I have not suggested any particular item built.I have put all viable builds that have been used till date.Look at my Mid - Late Game equipment in totality to reap most benefits from the builds.
2> The images you have uploaded for the item built are obscured.
The images were cropped to the best of my effort and were intended for representational purposes only. They also increase the aesthetic appeal of the guide.
