This will be a quick guide on how to use clockwerk effectively. No fancy pictures =/ Just wall of text. Enjoy
Ok so this guide will be mainly pointed towards competitive play. No dagon clocks! First off to start you will want someone else to buy the courier and wards as clock needs his items early on to be effective. Normally the starting items would be:
stick
branch x4
tango
salve / 2 clarities [depends on if you are laning with early domination heroes or passive]
Explanation: branches for cheap stats and upgrading stick, tango for usual lane harass. stick because simply, it is imba. the instant heal is priceless. and you will be getting charges very fast in team encounters.
The skill build should be this

Explanation: First skill to get is always flare. In a competitive match, laning is essential. Flare will save your team from thinking "oh shit" when you find out your solo Zeus is laning against say potm and bane.So battery assault will be vital for ganking, chasing, and in team fights disrupting the scary channeler.It will be the key skill for clock. Cog is gotten one level only early on since the cd is the same and 3 seconds is pretty decent. Also the incremental duration is only 1 so not that important. Ult is gotten at normal times since well, its an ultimate.
Early Game: Ok so to start off immediately level flare. Assuming it is cm mode and your opponents pick their heroes immediately. Wait around 10 seconds as that is usually the time i find when my opponents go into their designated lanes. Fire a flare for your weakest lane, solo zeus/ nevermore/ potm. its always better to know what they have early to swap lanes if necessary. You can then fire a second one at another lane as the cd will be done. Note *sometimes your enemies will be tricky and swap lanes. only happened for me a like once or twice. usually they won't as it would screw up their strat.
Plan to lane with a decent stunner. slower not as good but sometimes will do. this is to be able to get inrange to use battery assault. But sometimes situations call for different, and having a passive lane partner like warlock just lh/deny until an ally comes to help.
Oh and remember you have flare! Be sure to abuse it to scout out for enemies or give vision for spellcasters. Battery Assault is a mad strong early spell. Use it. Try to stay away from creeps as they will absorb some of the damage. Should usually net some kills when chasing your enemy down . Btw when chasing since they will be pseudo-slowed by the ministun walk along with them, smack once, continue chase when you get next to them again attack once again to increase damage. Use cog if possible. When your ganked immediately flare to find see exactly where your enemies are located. If need be use cog, break one, run away.
Items:
Boots (duh) [upgrade to phase]
Upgrade to wand. 5 more charges - rox
Bottle -very useful item as it will give you mana to allow you to roam + gank more
Agh Scep- point booster first for the hp
bracer / null [very hard to say when to get, but usually you know when you need the extra hp/mp]
rush Radiance? - DONT. well unless your opponents epic suck and your 8-0 by 20 min
Mid Game: Clock the Assasin! =) hook battery cog flare combo might net you a few kills in the mid game. aim for weak vulnerable casters.
Note- when facing potm be extra careful. goblin in cog just asks to get owned by arrow.
now that your flare should be maxed / almost maxed. SPAM IT. the vision it gives is just so useful. ofc use it to kill the low hp escaping hero too if you can. Normally this is the time where team clashes / pushes begin.
Priorities: 1. Stop the guy that can own your team. Ex: Enigma, SK, Es [battery animation rape lol], SF, Rhasta, and prob more i can't think of right now. -this is usally done by battery assault and incase you did not use hook yet it will do fine too.
2. Kill the low hp dps or caster
3. Spam Flare
When initiating always use cog. the push back and isolation are vital. sometimes is ok to die as long as you kill the sf. pat your self on the back.
Items:
Travel [for those ppl that just can't stand phase]
Agh sceptre- should get this by now
hood [upgrade to pipe if your doing well. clock is a good pipe carry hero]
Why Agh- CD! this will ensure you always have your hook when a battle occurs. or will allow you to rape weak int heroes [yummy cm rhasta zeus lion] added escape mech via allies is just icing.
Late Game
I repeat myself. SPAM FLARE!!! teams usually hold hands now and this will save your team from getting WIPED and possibly a loss. In encounters as before
1. stop the scary channelers
2. kill the disablers [rhasta lion bane etc]
maxed out hook range is 3000. <= this is insane. stand in the woods and pop in to stun. no need to stick with the team
other than that stay alive, spam flare, pray your carry/scary aoe raper owns them. if you end up winning the battle, they will run. let none survive. chase em down mercilessly with hook and battery. GG
oh! and if for some reason your game drags on way too long
get sheep stick and a heart!
