1. If the enemy don�t have a disabler in their team
2. If your team don�t have a good pusher
3. If you know that the enemy won�t disturb your feeding ground(the jungle)
4. If you are a good carry
5. If your team needs a good DPS hero

DON�T PICK LYCAN IF�
1. The enemy have good disabler�s mostly INT heroes
2. You are not used in jungling early game
3. You don�t want to be a carry

WHY PICK LYCANTHROPE:
-Good mid-game DPS hero
-Good at farming and jungling
-Can solo roshan
-Can destroy towers quickly before the creep wave arrive

(with good item�s in inventory)

HIS WEAKNESSES:
-Can be useless if ultimate is in cooldown
-Ethereal units (which can only be attacked by magic spells)
-Late-game carries

B. Item Build

STARTING BUILD:

This would be the most effective starting build for lycan since your going to be on the jungle for about 10minutes and this could help you be successful. As you can see I did not pick quelling blade which is alright but you can if you want to.

EARLY-GAME ITEMS:

The reason I chose this build because this can help you gank and at the same time kill enemy creep's or neutral creep's fast which will can push the line faster.Vladimir are used to lifesteal an enemy hero including creeps which can help you alot, it can save time without going to your fountain back and forth to heal you; all you need to do is attack a creep and you will be healed fast cause of your DPS. I chose power treads as boots because its cheap and can give you the movement speed you want and attack speed.Medallion can give you +6 armor and if used on enemy hero you can rape them easily.Armlet is for extra damage and attack which can help you kill enemy heroes easily.Mask of Madness for extra attack speed

MID-GAME ITEMS:

BKB gives you the magic immunity that you needed and crystalys for higher critical and damage(note: This stacks to your ulti's critical) can also be upgrade to Buriza later. As you can see I still have the armlet which is still effective during mid-game situations.(NOTE:you can solo towers with this build)

LATE-GAME ITEMS:

This is what your inventory should look like if the game is not finished yet. This build focuses on killing enemy heroes and massive push... with this item in your hand if there are still towers defending, you can solo that tower and bring it down quickly.I chose AC as your armor because it gives attack speed and armor as well.Buriza for critical and damage and Battlefury for its cleave.

OPTIONAL ITEMS:

-If you dont want to use AC as your armor you can choose shiva instead, it has a nuke than can slow your enemies which will be an easy prey to you.
-Use blademail if you are getting harassed by melee heroes.
- Heart of Tarrasque for additional HP and regeneration.
-MKB for ministun and extra damage.
-Use basher if you can't land any hits on enemy heroes because the stun would be useful.(NOTE: Its better to have BKB first than basher)
-SnY for attack speed and greater maim.I don't usually build this cause there are much better items.
-Use skadi and it will greatly slow your opponent.
-Satanic for +175% lifesteal in 3.5 sec

-Butterfly for massive attack speed.
-Necronomicon is also good on lycan these warrior can benefit from lycan's feral impulse.

REJECTED ITEMS:

-Refresher is rejected because your ulti have a low cooldown 40sec on lvl 3 which will make refresher useless.
-Ethereal Blade seriously?!?! Even though you can benefit from its agility gain its active skill will make you useless and waste your money there are much better items.
-Bloodstone? you are not a caster why buy this.
-Even though aghanim's is an ultimate upgrade it doesn't affect your ultimate at all.

STRATEGY
EARLY GAME

Summon your wolves to check on rune's for your teamates and focus mainly on farming you dont have to look for a first blood(except if an opportunity comes). Try to earn gold fast to prepare for mid-game because at this stage you will be chasing fleeing or roaming heroes alot that's why its important that you have enough cash to choose which item you will need.(When jungling try not to engage all the time cause this will delay your items, ask an ally to keep them away if you are still farming). You can try to kill roshan at this stage.

MID GAME

At this stage you must be LVL 10 or above since you've gain faster xp and you should be the fattest. Often use shapeshift when killing enemy heroes and pushing towers.The enemy will try to silence and disable so you won't be able to shapeshift(this is where BKB will help you thats why its important to get it first). Don't get into the middle of a team fight because you will be likely to get targeted first.

LATE GAME

In this situation your main focus now is to push towers quickly(especially if your team is losing).Everyone in the match should be above LVL 16 so it would be difficult killing heroes 1 vs 1 unless you have a team helping you. Try not to waste the Aegis(if you have it) or give it to someone that needed it more. Don't get yourself killed especially when the three of your 3rd towers are gone cause it would be automatically GG. You can still chase weak enemy heroes and kill fast. The most important thing is to end the game you dont win by killing heroes you win by destroying either the Frozen Throne, or the Elder tree.
