And my record is 3/5/4. Wasn't that bad because I had great team mates. But using the hero for the first time was a challenge. Because I had to change my roles everytime I died. I only farmed and gained battlefury. Sigh..
(REMEMBER, IT WAS MY FIRST
)As I tried to master the use of Mortred, I came along with alot of ideas depending on what role I should play and items I should build. Let's start off with the role playing:
"The Phantom Ganker"
Mortred, as a melee type hero have only 2 active skills, namely the Stifling Dagger and the Phantom Strike. Stifling dagger has alot of uses, if the hero opposite to your lane is ranged, it's better to use the Stifling Dagger to last hit on the creeps. It can also be used as a slow to enemy heroes. If you know you can take your enemy down, well, it's better to chase down starting with the use of this skill. It will give 50% slow to the opposing hero, but don't chase until you don't have boots of speed or whatever. This skill is also favorable in early and mid game, especially when you have an ally in the same lane..
The Phantom strike, Mortred blinks to a target with 100% attack speed with the maximum of 4 attacks. In the early game, you won't need this much until you don't have your 4th skill (Coup de Grace). Which has 15% chance to hit a critical strike. Phantom strike is favorable when farming. Because mortred doesn't do much of a push to a lane. It's much better to leave an ally alone the lane so Mortred and your ally will level up faster and at the same time, gain money. Once you have some sort of lifesteal or hp and mana regen. It's much better to keep on farming and wait for the "team fights or clash". Ironically in a clash you will survive or even had a kill or two, because of the Phantom Strike, this allows you to teleport even to an allied unit. You don't need the skill Blur much at early game, all you need is critical, damage and regeneration for better farming. (I'm a Filipino so if my english is wrong, correct me).
PHANTOM ASSASSIN SKILLS:

Stifling Dagger- Hurls a dagger which deals minor pure damage and slows the unit's movement speed for a short duration.

Phantom Strike- Teleports to a unit and attacks it. Gains 100% attack speed for 3 seconds while attacking that same target. Maximum of 4 attacks.

Blur (passive)- The Phantom Assassin becomes hard to see by blurring her body. Some enemy attacks miss.

Coup de Grace (passive)- Mortred has refined her hero-killing skills to a high degree.
MY ITEM BUILD FOR MORTRED
If you're with an enemy like:

(which are typically gankers)
you need hp recovery and lane damage for your allies. Items like:
these items will basically make you survive in the early. (if you're a good player
)with enemy like:

and
which are also melee type heroes, all you need is attack damage for pushing. Like:
MY MID-GAME ITEM BUILD FOR MORTRED
for larger hp. (You need this because the best use of Mortred is a tanker.. Somehow
or
(but I prefer perseverance first because when farming, you'll be able to get any of the two even both. But if you build the perseverance, you'll be able to build battle fury and won't take too much time. Compared to the helm, upgrade to satanic? NO... You don't need LIFESTEAL because what you need is CRITICAL and even CLEAVE.
for attack speed and ms. Attack speed is much needed because you increase the chance of critical as you hit. What more if you had better attack speed
you really need the "BIRD" because you don't need to go back to the well to recover your hp. The time wasted will cost you around 800+ (if farming) and even more if you bought a
.so you need a better way of item trasportation.
it depends on you if you buy this item. For me it's a must because as a killer, you need to seal the runes for a higher percentage of killing. And killing means MONEY and LEVEL
.
the last item that you would might want to end up is this.
Sange and Yasha is a MUST on Mortred. Much hp means more confidence on battle and agi ofcourse
.
for more chance of critical, more chance of critical means the more you attack the more you commit critical. Rock and roll!MY LATE GAME ITEM BUILD ON MORTRED

as said on my mid game guide.
this item is also a must because of it's effects. Hp and mana regen, cleave that fits perfectly with the critical and last but not the least, DAMAGE
Mortred needs to attack alot especially with clashes, because at late game, the 2 active skills (Stifling Dagger and Phantom Strike) are much much much needed. To slow and strike, means to chase and KILL. Yeah baby!
this item makes you INVULNERABLE.. SOMEHOW
because with large hp, no one can kill you especially when you're trading damages with'em.
oh baby this item is a killer, many ranged hero like
needs this item because the hero like Drow hits alot. So the manier and the faster you hit, means the greater % of critical you give each time you attack. Like Mortred, 15% of 4.0 crit damage+ 20% chance of 2.5 crit damage= 35% chance of 6.5x damage. Whewwww. What more if you had a
divine rapier. You're damage is collosal. No one can withstand trading atleast 5 seconds. IF YOU BUILD THESE ITEMS.That's my hero guide for Mortred, hope it helps. Sorry if it's kinda lousy cause it's my first
