Starting out I would like to thank anyone who stumbles on this guide and decides to read it. The purpose of this guide is to briefly give some pointers to people who wish to try Rhasta as a new hero. The guide will emphasize Rhasta's disabling power. You will find the basic info in the beginning if you aren't looking forward to a long read (if you don't want to read much skip to skill builds and continue to items from there). At some point this guide should evolve into something that will help improve anyone's (I don't count DotA legends/gods into anyone) game. Constructive criticism is very welcome in the form of hero, strategy errors/misconceptions and also guide layout.

Pros & Cons

[Stats]

Pros

+ Ranged with decent range (500)
+ Good attack animation
+ Good cast animation (if cancelled)
+ High Int gain
+ Insane disables
+ Extreme synergy with other heroes and own spells
+ Huge flexibility
+ 7 target nuke
+ Good manapool and regen
+ 4 actives

Cons

- Bad missile speed
- Awful movement speed
- Low armor
- Low damage
- Squishy
- High mana spells
- Bad dps potential

About half more pros than cons. Either this is a great hero or I love him (I like to think both).

2 Skill build(s)

[Strategy]

Rhasta is immensely flexible here as without getting stats every level it is very hard to have a build that won't work.

What works for me might not suite your play style. This is not the one true way so experiment.

Full on disabler
1. Shackles
2. Voodoo
3. Voodoo
4. Shackles
5. Voodoo
6. Mass Serpent Ward
7. Voodoo
8. Shackles
9. Shackles
10. Ether Shock
11. Mass Serpent Ward (you can stick to 1 level of ulti if it works for you)
12. Ether Shock
13. Ether Shock
14. Ether Shock
15-25 Obvious

While laning this might be one of the most powerful as you get nearly 4 seconds of disable at level 2. You don't shine on your own with this but it is often great for getting your teammates some kills. You get Shackles at level one due to their long disable and after that you go for Voodoo as it let's you attack also. Leaving the ultimate out gives you more mana for disabling.

Nuker
1. Shackles
2. Ether Shock
3. Ether Shock
4. Shackles
5. Ether Shock
6. Mass Serpent Ward
7. Ether Shock
8. Shackles
9. Shackles
10. Voodoo
11. Mass Serpent Ward
12. Voodoo
13. Voodoo
14. Voodoo
15-25 Obvious

Shackles is gotten at level 1 due to it's flexibility. Even though getting Voodoo at level 4 gives more disable time it would use more mana which is supposedly meant for nuking. Even though Voodoo is more flexible a disable Shackles starts at 2.5 sec and staying with 1 disable leaves you mana for an extra nuke. Even though leaving out the ultimate at level 11 and 16 saves mana this build is designed for kills and so is your ultimate.

Carry/Pubber/Cookiecutter (herein "Build 3")
1. Shackles
2. Ether Shock
3. Ether Shock
4. Voodoo
5. Ether Shock
6. Mass Serpent Ward
7. Ether Shock
8. Voodoo
9. Voodoo
10. Voodoo
11. Mass Serpent Ward
12. Shackles
13. Shackles
14. Shackles
15-25 Obvious

This is pretty much a basic build in pubs and organized/competitive games alike as it focuses on Rhasta tearing everyone apart and getting as much kills as possible. This might be the most usual build you will see but often your team can benefit from a specialized build more.

3 Knowing your role

[Role]

- Disabler In most games you should be abusing your disables like hell and making it look like the other team is participating in the paralympics. If you really like this role you can go for Eul's and Guinsoo which will get you up to around 13 seconds of disable and allow you to keep 4 people disabled for a few seconds or juggling your disables you can keep one enemy disabled for over 20 seconds. You will be holding this role atleast as a secondary role with any build.

- Carry This is something you might not see in every public game but in competitive gameplay Rhasta will easily be able to take some early 1 on 1 kills and get some extra levels and farm to allow rape through the whole game. This requires 1 on 1 kills making Build 3 an exellent option.

- Support A very situational role. If you don't feel like you going around killing people is a bright idea you can build for the team and get mek and necro (Necromonicon is a powerful item for you anyways as the summons have some 8 seconds of free whacking on their target). If you have 3 people building a Guinsoo one of them a Roamer and one of them a hard carry with your 5th player a carry too (highly unlikely). This would be quite valid as your team already has all of your other roles. This will usually have you as a supportive disabler or nuker with the Disabler or Nuker build.

- Roamer Another role mainly seen in competitive games which mostly consists of you running around ganking and just solo killing enemies. You should only try to solo kill 1 on 1 and be careful about it anyways as a hardcore roamer is bound to be slightly underfarmed. You might lose on a little bit of farm but so will your enemies which in turn will give your team more farm time. Can work with any build if you have your ult or an ally around.

- Pusher This works wonderfully on Rhasta due to a multi target nuke and powerful immobile summons taking towers down with ease. Best with Nuker or Build 3.

As you might have noticed already doing anyone of these roles good enough can ensure a victory.

[Strategy]

This is where we have the choice of making Rhasta speced into a powerful warrior of a certain type by using his strenghts or by fixing his weaknesses he can be made a solid all-arounder.

Here are somethings you might want to asks yourself...

Do I think there will be a few early game kills and do I want a buff to my early/mid game?
If that is the case you can buy yourself an Urn.

Do I want to be a monster disabler?
If yes then Eul's and Guinsoo are for you.

Does the other team have dangerous dpsers/bashers/gamebreaker AoEs?
If yes and your natural disables aren't enough try Eul's and guinsoo again.

Do I need to be tankier/resilient to disables?
If yes are my enemies magic users?
Yes: Hood of Defiance/Linken's/BKB
No: Shiva's

Is the other team dependent on spells?
If yes Orchid is a valid item.

Do I want to nuke the shit out of them or do they have a glass cannon (high damage with low health)?
If yes get Dagon.

Does my team as a whole need more damage or tankiness?
If yes which one?
Damage: Necromonicon
Tankiness: Mekanism
