1. Hero's Story
Quas. Wex. Exort. The essence of a storm. The heart of a blizzard. The soul of a phoenix. After his people were broken and scattered to the corners of the earth, Kael was left with only the relics of his once great world. Thirsting for vengeance, he sold his own soul to Ner'Zhul, and in exchange acquired near limitless power. Taking on the mantle of the Blood Mages of old, the Invoker strode into war with nothing but the elements at his command. He can fuse the elements into deadly incantations, tearing apart the very heavens in his fury. His genius knows no bounds, and the Sentinel shall come to know the rage of the Invoker.
2. Hero's IntroductionWelcome to my very first guide.I really want to share my knowledge and ideas so i decided to make one.English is not my native language so it is fine to tell me if there are mistakes.(expect parentheses oftenly like this one(parentheses)
<Kael,on the other's eyes,is a very flexible hero that can fit into any role, from being a carry(Chaos Meteor,Defeaning Blast,EMP,SunStrike,Alacrity),support(Tornado,Ice Wall,Cold Snap),or tank(seriously). His unique skill set allows him to fit into any situation given, others say that this guy is not newb-friendly,yeah they're right, but if you're an experienced player who seeks revenge from your newbie days(or you saw an invoker played by a pro and you feel like you're the teams walking wards),Kael is the perfect hero for your revenge seeking purposes.>
my thoughts
I've been playing DoTA for 7 years(since 2005) and Kael is one of the most powerful heroes I've used,(I'm an exort user so I won't explain the "quas build" and "wex build" here) I would say that exort build is more dominant from early until late game than the other elements, and the combination of his skills is almost limitless. The combo that you can create is really tricky to figure out(you cannot master a hero just by reading guides or playing 2 games, especially,Kael),It took me 5 games just to understand his annoying(*powerful)skills, and lots and lots of games to figure everything out(Which is what i'm going to share). But when you practice oftenly, you will eventually understand the full potential of the Invoker.
Note(to reader)(i made this guide to share my idea, though other guides always says that "there is no concrete build for any hero,it always depends on the situation because of factors and confusing stuffs",but this guide will be a straightforward one so that you will get an idea on a certain area such as item and skill build, eventually, you will learn everything and balance them by yourself.(and don't try to point out that this item sucks for him or your skill build is soo dumb or anything like that, because THIS IS MY GUIDE)(sorry for the CAPS)(this section is kinda offensive but THIS IS MY GUIDE and i don't want to repeat what i said earlier.)
So here it goes.

Formula for you orbs(elements)
Formula= orb x level-of-orb x instance (orb per level per instance)
where: orb = element, level-of-orb = level of element, instance = active element
e.g. - exort(+3damage) x level 7 exort x 3 instances = 63damage (additional damage from int gain not included)
(exort lvl = 3 quas lvl = 5)
exort(+3damage) x lvl 3 exort x 2 instances = 12damage (additional int damage from exort not included)
quas(+1hpregen) x lvl 5 quas x 1 instances = 5regen (additional regen from str gain not included)
(meaning you will get +12 damage and +5 regen at the same time)

Level 21 - wex
Level 22 - wex
Level 23 - Quas
Level 24 - wex
Level 25 - Quas
Skill Build Justification(explanations):
Level 1
< Benefits of quas over any orb at lvl1
-regen and hp bonuses are useful for harassing purposes in the lane
-additional as/ms or damage is useless if you can't regenerate damage received from units around you(creeps, heroes)>
-useful when you successfully get to lvl2
-Level 2 - invoke
Simple
-you're useless at lvl1 cause you don't have any skill.
-you'll suck more if still don't have any skill at lvl2
-if you reach lvl3 safely without any skill, thank God.
-if you somehow believe the statements above(and this part),you will get coldsnap(QQQr)(the best skill you can get at lvl2 because sunstrike(EEEr) is lame with lvl1 exort(only deals 100damage) while EMP(WWWr) is lamer for it deals 100 damage from mana burn(100 mana) 4 seconds after casting)
Level 3 - exort
Level 4 - exort
Level 5 - exort
Why 3 exorts? why not get 1 wex?
-that combo you're thinking(meteor, blast) will only work once because of mana problems(need to conserve mana so that you can spam(atleast) your coldsnap and sunstrike)
-focusing on exort til lvl5 can (possibly) give you a kill or two with sunstrike(EEEr))
-your summon will hurt a little more(it's attack type is like "pure damage" meaning it cant be reduced by anything like armor type and value)
Level 6 - wex
ERR
-there you go, now do what you want
-you cannot upgrade exort this time so the best decision is to go for a level of wex(you just unlocked ghost walk, defeaning blast, chaos meteor, alacrity, tornado, emp(not really useful))(<--it only mean that you just gained access to you're whole skillpool)
-NOTE(you must wait lvl7 so that you can safely land meteor(with coldsnap or blast),you can use it anyway with a help of an ally to ensure a kill(any sort of disable or slow)
Level 7 - invoke
Do i really need to explain this?
-invoke at lvl 7 must be prioritized over exort this time so that you can possibly cast 3 spells for a combo(combo unlocked<--will be explained later)
-gives better cooldown and mana
Level 8 - exort
Level 9 - exort
More exorts?
-you're going to maximize exort as soon as possible to get you the firepower you need(exort = any kind of sadistic things(eg.hurting)
Level 10 - wex
Wex again?
-lvl2 wex in this lvl is enough to extend the damage done by meteor(it will increase the rolling range of meteor by roughly 200 distance)
-it will also increase the attack speed gained from alacrity
-NOTE(lvl2 wex doesn't have any specific bonuses on other wex-using skills(EMP,tornado, ghostwalk)
Level 11 - exort
Level 12 - invoke
LOL(can't think of anything in this part yet)
-exort err,uh just upgrade it when it is available
-invoke, like the texts above, try reading it
-NOTE(lvl3 invoke as well as lvl4 will hurt your mana pool badly,if you still dont have aghanims at this stage,(or there is no CM around) you will experienced problems regarding your skill usage,<--will be explained later.
Level 13 - exort
Atlast
-last lvl of exort(for full power)
Level 14 - Quas
Level 15 - Quas
Level 16 - Quas
Why 3 Quas?
-this is mainly for your summon(forge spirits), so that you can have 2 of them.(2 living fire is better than 1)(and better stats)
-better cold snap
-more airtime for tornado(1.7secs equivalent to the delayed effects of sunstrike)(meaning you can use tornado with lvl4 quas to ensure that sunstrike will hit the target
-better slow for ghost walk
-better slow for ice wall(you can use this skill effectively with lvl4 quas)
Level 17 - invoke
Ughh
-lvl4 invoke,4 seconds cooldown,80 manacost,it will drain your manapool fast(imagine if you're going to cast 4 skills, that's 320 of mana already(80x4=320),it's only the invoke's manacost)
-but with aghanims(2secs cooldown,no manacost) it's the monster's weapon.
Level 18 - wex
Level 19 - wex
Level 20 - Quas
Level 21 - wex
Level 22 - wex
Level 23 - Quas
Level 24 - wex
Level 25 - Quas
WTF, you got in this stage?
-this part is not really so important, balancing these 2orbs can give you the advantage you need than maximizing 1 orb then leaving the other useless.
-maximizing 1 orb than the other should depend on the environment(eg. you need more range? get wex, you need more disables? get quas.)
-and if you ever get to the max lvl, with aghanims and stuffs, remember, you're a monster already waiting to be unleashed.
