Introduction
OK, so this is my first guide on PD. It's about Morphling who I considers to be one of the best hero in the game right now. If you want a general description about how good Morphling is, take a look at this:
Quote:
The Morphling is a dynamic hero, capable of giving or taking massive amounts of damage, at the will of the player. His Waveform allows him to escape or initiate fights with ease, while his Adaptive Strike gives him a versatile, powerful nuke or stun. His Replicate allows him to make a copy of a hero, and to take the place of the copy in an instant. Morphling's greatest strength, however, is his ability to transfer his agility points to strength, and vice-versa, allowing him to take on the role of tank or damage dealer at a moment's notice. The Morphling is a dangerously mobile enemy, who must be treated caution before he takes you by surprise!

Pros And Cons
So what further information can we extract from Morphling? Let's take a look:
1. Pros
* Unmatched versatility in many aspects (this comprises of many pros which I will go into details later)
* Good stats gain. A stats monster actually
* Mid and late game pushing/back-dooring monster
* Has 2 very powerful and special nukes which renders Morphling superior to most other DPSers in all phases of the game
2. Cons
* Abysmal Intelligence, yet mana dependent
* Item dependent
* Mockable starting damage, attack range and movement speed
* Prone to disables
* Not too squishy, but HP problem is still a hindrance
* No DPS passives

Hero Abilities
Refer to this page for basic information on Morphling's abilities: Morphling - DotA Hero Details
In here I will only give advanced information:

Waveform
* Your farming tool, escaping mechanism, and a ks-er's best friend.
* Damage dealt to an enemy hero without any other source of magic resistance: 75/131/187/244
* It uses location targeting: If you target an enemy unit, Morphling will attempt to surf at its location. It also means you can miss with Waveform though this is not usually the case (Still it's embarrassing should you ever miss it!).
* Tips:
[+] At level 4 it can kill any ranged creep spawned before the 21'30" mark.
[+] Can be used to evade targeted spells; however, some may be able to follow and hit you after finishing Waveform.
[+] Can also be used to evade damage since Morphling becomes invulnerable while traveling.
[+] Anticipate the enemy's escape route and Waveform ahead of him. That will force him to take additional hits while running.

Adaptive Strike
* Although this spell deals less damage than it used to before getting remade in 6.60 (I've calculated that Morphling needs at least 300 AGI to make its damage surpasses its pre-6.60 version), it is now accompanied by a stun, something Morphling lacked. Now he can interrupt TP users. Pretty cool amirite?
* Tips:
[+] Always try to knock the enemy against your allies so they could catch up with him and give a good raep.

Morph
* Teh secks of Morphling. This is one of the trademark spell that gives Morphling his name (literally!).
* Manual cast cancels your last order but auto cast does not.
* Tips:
[+] You can make Morphling's base damage 184-193 using this spell (How to? Reach level 25, max out Morph, switch all your STR to AGI)
[+] Although switching all your AGI to STR is not recommended since it makes you a blob of meat with no damage and reason to attack whatsoever, it is very useful when you are running from a horde of hungrythirsty enemies who want to drink Morphling water (though it probably tastes horrible anyway). Just set the green button on auto-cast.
[+] Setting the green button on auto-cast DOES NOT, I repeat, it DOES NOT interrupt your channeling TP/BoT.

Replicate
* Simply put, this is the skill which has unlimited potential.
* Tips:
[+] Put the clone in your base, go backdoor/farm/sightseeing; whenever you feel you need to go back, press 'R' and voilą! Free TP to base.
[+] Put the clone on the enemy's escape route and when he (let's presume he's already weak and you're not) goes by, press 'R' and voilą! Free kill.
[+] Hide the clone in the enemy base, get some regen, wait until the their team is away, press 'R' and voiląBeware! DotA Chat might have to put up with a "OMG NERF MORPHLING HE IS IMBA BACKDOOR" thread later.
[+] Or just clone one of your most important heroes, for example Earthshaker, lead it into the enemy line and watch them waste their skills on it.
[+] Use Replicate on one of your Manta Style-generated images and the Replica will take 100% the damage you normally take and deal 50% the damage you normally deal.
[+] There may be others but I will leave you to discover them all.

Skill Build
Morphling is a very versatile hero; even his skill build speaks it.
Here I will list some ways of building him, choose whichever you see fit but keep in mind there is no skill build that is good for all situations.
Another thing, always max Waveform by level 7. It's your bread-n-butter, cookie-cutter skill.
Also, I will not try to force you to build a specific skill in a specific level (except the last level of Waveform must always be learned at level 7! :P, but rather give a requirement of skill points that you must learn.
Now, off to the skill build themselves!
1. The "Widely recognized and used in more than 190 countries" build:
From level 1 to 11: 4 Waveform, 4 Adaptive, 2 Replicate, 1 Attribute Bonus
From level 12 to 16: 4 Morph, 1 Replicate
From level 17 to 25: Stats all the way
2. The "Some Chinese guy invented this" build (Had a brief period of being used by East Asian players; however, it seems outdated because as of DotA version 6.63, Morphling no longer gains bonus base STR and AGI upon leveling Morph. This makes leveling past 1 point of Morph in the early-mid phase pretty much useless.)
From level 1 to 11: 4 Waveform, 4 Morph, 2 Replicate, 1 Attribute Bonus
From level 12 to 16: 4 Adaptive, 1 Replicate
From level 17 to 25: Stats all the way
3. The "I'm a right clicker!" build
From level 1 to 11: 4 Waveform, 2 Replicate, 5 Attribute Bonus
From level 12 to 16: 4 Adaptive, 1 Replicate
From level 17 to 25: 4 Morph, 5 Attribute Bonus
4. The "My way" build
Morph Waveform Waveform Attribute Bonus Waveform Attribute Bonus Waveform Adaptive Adaptive Replicate Replicate Adaptive Adaptive Morph Morph Replicate Morph

Item Build
Accept this fact: No Morphling is good without items, and by items I mean the RIGHT items! A Morphling with no item is as good as an Earthshaker building Stats + Aftershock, and a Morphling without the RIGHT item is as good as an Earthshaker getting Agi Treads as his first item! OK, you can say "I'VE HAD 30 KILLS YESTERDAY WITH VANGUARD AND DAGON MORPHLING IN AN "-APEM PROS ONLY" GAME" but that doesn't mean you'll get the same results with Vanguard and Dagon Morphling in a draft/CW game.
1. What to do with 603 gold?
Buy whatever you see fit (except from Boots of Speed and Gloves of Haste which I will strongly discourage you from buying with 603 gold at the beginning). If you still have no ideas then:
Slipper Slipper Branch Branch Salve Tango
- or -
Circlet Branch Branch Salve Tango Clarity Clarity
2. Small but good items:
Wraith Bands
Mass produce them.
Magic Stick & Magic Wand
Once considered the retarded piece of shit that IceFrog created for no reason whatsoever, this item has proved its efficiency and the ability to become horridly imbalanced at the right moments.
Bottle
You badly need mana. Not to mention the river goodies also known as Runes.
3. What big items should I get?
No doubt it's the SHINY and INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS Boots of Travel.
Boots of Travel
I will quote Misery, one of the best Morphling players in the world:
Quote:
For this hero, getting Travel early is the most important, this item will help you farm and assist teammates better. Travel and Wave Form will turn Morph into a lean, mean, farming (and pushing) machine.
Manta Style
Diffusal Blade (You can get whichever first)
Manta Style
Manta, like Boots of Travel, is your LAZOR GADGET BIRTH CONTROL DEVICE CORE ITEM. Morphling badly needs this item to push and make a clone of himself since Replicate can't be used to target self. Besides the two cool henchmen, ever since the 6.60 remake Manta Style has been known to give a respectable stat bonus, DPS,bitches and movement speed.
Diffusal Blade
Face it, it has always been good and will always be good. Diffusal Blade is:
[+] a mid-game DPS item for Agility heroes before making their transition into the luxury items phase which also doubles as a powerful ganking tool
[+] needed anyway if you're facing at least one of the following heroes: Sven, Omniknight, Broodmother, Warlock
There is only one drawback is that your Manta or Replicate images can't utilize Feedback, probably due to balance reasons. Bah. Screw balance. It's also the reason we can't see Chuck Norris in DotA.
4. Luxuries, alternates and optional items: (STILL INCOMPLETE)
Luxuries
Linken Sphere Eye of Skadi Butterfly Buriza Heart of Tarrasque
Alternates
HotD/Satanic Maelstrom/Mjollnir Sange+Yasha
Controversial
Desolator
Powerful raw damage bonus and anti-armor but unfortunately it's too neutral: no stats.
Orchid Malevolence
Heard people advocating this but when would you get it anyway?
Buriza or MKB?
Critical Strike is the best option since Morphling's damage gets very high late game.
Is Defiance good? Because it's the most IMBA item right now?
Well I rarely see a Morphling getting Defiance because Morphling don't tend to get too close in battle. He waves in, kills some people and pushes.
5. Never ever ever ever ever even THINK of these items
OK, you've seen the list of recommended items for a good Morphling. Now, you will see the list of items you should stay away from if you want to be a good Morphling.
(This applies mostly to serious, organized games. It does not apply as much to pubs though, as even a Puck with 6 Vanguards can win the game - and don't call me a liar, I've seen it.)
Vanguard
MindfuckMathcraft time guys!
(Some) people tend to buy Vanguard for Morphling so they can switch more STR into AGI and accomplish some great shit. This HP-bulky 2225 gold item gives 300 HP, which roughly translates into about 16 STR => 16 AGI. But hey, 2 Blades of Alacrity cost only 2000 gold but give 20 AGI and most importantly, they can be used to form the glorious Diffusal Blade. Vanguard's damage block is almost useless on ranged heroes and regeneration is easily neutralized by burst damage.
Dagon
In pubs, everything works. Trust me, I know a guy who only plays AGI hero, getting Dagon for them as core item, and rapes.
Some lulz I'll deal with later
