Gondar Reloaded

The Hunter returns

Whoa, gondar is back! and How!.. after the various changes and buffs made to many heroes in map version 6.65, one of the most notable ones is the reworking of jinada, which proves to be vastly more efficient than its previous version. It also now makes him very strong against squishy int heroes(believe me, its true)

Background story:-
Gondar is a Draenei that is often called upon for his superior skills. Not much is known about his past, but his capabilities are extraordinary. Some believe he learned from a ninja clan while others say he was born with his amazing abilities. He is able to throw shurikens with extreme accuracy and has the strength to strike down any foe with his two swift blades. His agility is matched by none, and his stealth is inferior only to few. He is interested in the conflict for money alone, and is promised a large reward.

Role in the game:-
Thanks to his awesome skillset, gondar is a very versatile hero. He can gank, push, counter invisibility dependant heroes and also makes a very reliable semi-carry. But among al these, He is most often picked Due to his ability to counter Invis- Heroes like rikimaru, nerubian assasin, and more recently, Murlock Nightcrawler

Note:- This guide is not meant for competitive games, it caters to the more casual set of players. Competetive players are free to send their suggestions or their feedback though.

Skillset:-

Shuriken Toss

Description:- The Bounty Hunter throws a shuriken at a target unit, dealing damage.

Use:- This is ur multi-purpose skill. Use it to finish off fleeing enemies, to interrupt channeling spells or teleports, or if you have the mana, spam it to dish out some serious damage!!

Jinada

Description:-Passively adds a critical strike and maim to Bounty Hunter's next attack, has a cooldown.

Use:- this skill is one of the best passives in the game. A guaranteed main and critical strike every 7 seconds. Priceless.

Wind Walk

Description:-Turns invisible for a period of time. Deals bonus backstab damage. Transition time decreases per level.

Use:- This is the skill you will be using most of the time when you play gondar. Decent backstab damage that is useful in harassing opponents. very cheap, mana-wise.

Track

Description:-Tracks an enemy hero for 30 seconds or until it dies. Allied units near the tracked target gain 20% movement speed increase. If the target dies, Bounty Hunter gets bonus gold.

Use:- this is the skill because of which invis heroes fear you. It reveals invis heroes, stays for a considerable amount of time, grants a nice movement speed bonus to you and your allies, and also keeps the gold flowing, even if you aren't doing the killing

[+]Pros

- Excellent ganker
- High damage nuke along with a ministun
- Relatively low mana cost spells
- reliable semi-carry, and very good DPS
- Excellent counter to invis heroes.

[-]Cons:-

- Low str and int gain. Hence fragile.
- Beyond a point in the game, is item dependant.

Justification:- Wind walk is taken at level 1 to avoid a possible gank. Toss is your nuke, so it must be maxed ASAP.By level 7 you must have your lvl 4 toss. As track is of Utmost Importance, it must be taken whenever possible. Jinada is taken Instead of stats as it tremendously increases your killing potential and the maim is really useful.

Item build:-

Starting:-

Core:-

Late game extensions:-

Situational items:-

Rejected Items:-

Dont get this. Trust me, you really dont need it. Str Power treads and 2 bracers offer more than enough survivability.

Ever since jinada got reworked, you dont really need this item.

Awkward. not a very bright idea.

MKB gives more bang for your buck.

Gameplay:-

Gondar can take up a dual lane, but is also a capable solo. But do not get a naked bottle on him at lvl 1, trust me, its seriously not a good idea. Farm your bottle and begin to control runes. Gondar benefits from all runes except invisibility and illusion. Let other gankers take these runes.
Try to get a lot of kills early game, but do not tower dive, as you are too fragile to do that. Once you have your battle fury, farming should become relatively easier. Gank only when you can successfully execute it. set up ganks with allies in your own lane till you farm your core. After that, once you start controlling runes, you can roam and gank.Once a desolator is ready, you will see that squishy int heroes like zeus, lina and lion will die in 3-4 shots Keep tracking so that you keep getting gold, whether you get kills or not.Having followed thes basic things, i think playing gondar should be a very enjoyable experience.

Closing note:- As i have mentioned before, this guide is more casual than competitive. so keep that in mind while posting comments. It is certain that not all players will agree with all the aspects of gameplay in this guide, and people are free to send me their suggestions and their feedback.

Credits:- to SlaYer|ReBorN for his feedback on the item build, to all the folks at playdota, and lastly to myself for having written this guide. I hope the community likes it and benefits from it.
yours faithfully,
roshan
