1. HERO's Story
An outcast of the Spirithoof clan, Barathrum retreated in shame to the Ethereal Plane, feeding off wandering souls to sustain himself, and wandered aimlessly for centuries, alone and miserable. Found and recruited by the Lich King, Barathrum's uncanny speed and wraithlike powers have now been unleashed upon the Material Plane, his lantern able to project nether energy into enemies, sending them backwards with sudden force. With the ability to close the distance between himself and a target in seconds, Barathrum the Spiritbreaker is more than a match for anyone.
2. HERO'S IntroductionMy intention in this guide is supposed to be a mini-guide, not a concise guide, but one thing changed in my mind so i do this in concise instead of mini form. Anyway, im a Filipino and still working out on this guide, i worked on this guide so i can give you specific tips about using Spiritbreaker.
Barathrum is an overpowered ganking machine, you will see that Spiritbreaker more looks like a carry, but in proper usage, he is a ganker (note that his main role is Ganker and sometimes initiator) so take a look at the guide and read it to look at specific tips and builds about Barathrum
3. HERO'S Info & StatsPros:
[+] Ganks well all by himself (His main role is ganking)
[+] Somehow it doesn't need some items to gank
[+] Perma-bash allows him to be safe no matter what gank he had been to
[+] Greater last-hitting capabilities
[+] Uses his charge as an initiation tool, also as free teleport
[+] Chases well because of his skills
[+] High armor, that means he is hard to harass
[+] And most of all..... he supports well because of his stuns
Cons:
[-] Needs items that scales him well in late game (solvable by proper farming )
[-] One-by-one hitter, doesn't allows him to do much AoE damage (solvable by taking out each heroes)
[-] Doesn't initiate well without a proper charge (solvable by patience and early planning)
[-] No reliable escape mechanism (solvable by the help of your trusty mates)
[-] One of the heroes who rely on his bash (solvable by farming up the items and also skills that need to be properly initiate)
[-] He is melee, but that's not a problem afterall (solvable by his long range skills)

4. HERO'S Skill Usage
Charge of Darkness
Spiritbreaker charges for 4 seconds, after charging, barathrum rushes to the target, allowing him pass through units, when he reaches his target, barathrum stuns the target for several seconds.
Pros:
[+] Low manacost
[+] Casting range is everywhere (Global)
[+] Gives vision and true sight of the target
[+] He can cancel the charge whenever there is danger to gank
[+] Gives maxinum speed and magic immunity when full charged
[+] Allies will know who will be the target of the charge
[+] He can pass through units and trees
Cons:
[-] Gives buff signal to the target when you casted it near the target, making it predictable
[-] Takes time to charge, it means your allies have to wait to start gank/clash easily
[-] Even though you can walk through trees and units, you will still run the pathway (it means you cannot jump over cliffs)
Empowering Haste
Spiritbreaker and allies around him grants ms bonus. Also grants damage for himself depending on his current ms.
Pros:
[+] This makes you a potent chaser
[+] This makes you a better farmer
[+] This makes you a DPSer in ganking output
Cons:
[-] There is only one cons........ there is no cons
Greater Bash
Barathrum unleashes the fury of his greater bash to the target. greater bash is not only a bash, but a knockback bash that dashes off the target, knocking off and stunning it.
Pros:
[+] Knocks off the target, making it a powerful disable when used repititively
[+] The process chance is 17%, making barathrum a perma-basher
[+] Note that this can interrupt actions of the target like teleporting and channeling
Cons:
[-] It's annoying when you last hit because sometimes it will process BEFORE attacking
[-] When you processed a greater bash, it would interrupt your queued actions like attacking
Nether Strike
Barathrum teleports to the opposite side where he is facing to the target, dealing a powerful Lvl4 greater bash to the target.
Pros:
[+] Teleports you to opposite direction where you facing against the enemy, making you a better chaser
[+] The skill that lets you finish off the enemy because of it's high damage output
[+] Low cooldown
[+] When upgraded by the aghanim, it will process to affect units near the target. synergizes well for AoE channeling ultimates
Cons:
[-] Annoying when used and ended up being ganked when you're alone, especially when using this, so dont be greedy too much
[-] Even annoying when using it far away, since it has only average cast range
[-] BUT the most annoying when used it and ended up teleporting to the enemy fountain, killing you

1.Empowering haste is taken first to maximize it's level
2.Charge of darkness is taken second to maximize
3.Greater bash is taken only it's 1st level, then it's maxed later on
4.Nether strike is taken whenever possible no matter what different skill build says
5.Stats is taken after all skills has been maximized / when no skills is possible to be leveled
6. HERO'S Item BuildEARLY ITEM BUILD
Tango- Buy one set of these to easily cure yourself from harrassments
Salve- Buy one of these if you're health is almost dropping dead
Branch- Buy at least 1-3 of these so it ensures good last hitting and health increase
Quelling Blade- Buy these if you need farming and juking skills
Circlet- Buy at least one of these if you're buying bracer
Magic Stick- same as tango. period.
Town Portal- Do i need to explain?, this is the most important item you need to get
Bracer- Upgrade into this if you have gauntlet and circlet
Gauntlet- Buying this..... again...... for last hit and health increase
Magic wand- If you have the magic stick and branches, then it's not bad to uprgade to this
Poor man's shield- Get this early game if you're getting harrased

CORE ITEM BUILDMask of Madness- Infamous for lifesteal and synergizer with greater bash, this is the most considerable item for Barathrum, get this FIRST before treads and other core items.
Yasha- Movespeed, AS and agility, sweet!, you get what empower haste needed
Janggo- New item, same as yasha.
Power str Treads- Do i need to say this?, same as yasha and janggo
Armlet- I seen people (as well my friends) buying armlet, but, it's not bad as the above, but be careful about turning on since it will decrease you health

LATEGAME ITEM BUILDBlack king bar- You can buy if there are stun-nuke-spam-kill heroes
Heart of tarrasque- A special item for str heroes, buy it if you want to stay in lane
Linken sphere- Alternate version of BKB, but it gives every stats you need, not useless afterall
Assault cuirass-You can buy these if you want, but sometimes i dont buy these anymore because of Barathrum high armor
Satanic- I seen this in many heroes like slark in 1 vs 5 games (his name probably is Jackfrog), you can get this if you want to counter DPSers

EXTRA/SITUATIONAL ITEMSAghanim scepter- It's not bad to get this since it lowers cooldown, increase casting range and it will change to AoE effect
Hood of defiance- Whatever nuke killers throw their pianos at you, it will be change to PSP instead of piano, and you know it, gives you resistance against nukers
Blademail- DPSers?, no problem, this is the counter for DPSers like ursa and traxex
Pipe- If you have the hood, you can upgrade that to this, you can now shield you allies from Atomic bombers
Ghost scepter- DPSers again?, this it's a defensive item, get these if you're being DPSed

7. HERO'S StrategyEarly Game

Just Farm: The part where Late Game Depends on. The Farming part is one of the most important aspect for Barathrum in Early Game, Why?, Because just like i said before, Barathrum always relies on his items during lategame. Here's some tips and notes:
- AGAIN, Just farm as much as possible for the first 5 minutes, then buy the items like MoM and str treads for ganking power
- Get your teammates to protect/Harass for you from your enemies
- Get also the items that provide protection against Harrasers

Possibilty Of First Blood: Most of the time, Barathrum players experience a feeling that they can get a first blood. No, you can't Get a First Blood all by yourself, If you want to get your First Blood, Always lane a partner (Dual Lane) to support you in First Blood because most of the time, it's just an Experience and Gold so you can get your items faster, but that's not bad for players anyway, Here's some tips:
- You're not much a carry, you're a ganker, so dont go solo, instead, go dual lane
- Heroes like vengeful, lion and Earthshaker can help you to get First Blood
- Lane a partner who always listen to you, but you must also follow them
- Here some other heroes who can assist you in first blood:

- Note that some of the heroes cannot assist too much for the first blood, like Rooftrellen and jahrakal (it's because their skills does not synergize with barathrum)

7b. HERO'S Key Points
Golden Rule #1 : Barathrum always Initiates with charge
Never ever start a gank or battle without a proper charge. a proper charge must be:
- Fully charged
- Must hit the target
- Cannot be seen by enemy (But the buff is seen by the enemy is still a proper charge)
- With patience
- With Predicting and anticipating target's movements
Golden Rule #2 : Barathrum uses his nether strike to finish/chase enemies
Note that Barathrum skills are made to chase anyone on his sight, and one skill is made to catch off the enemies, Nether strike. use this properly so you can properly kill the enemy, here's some tips:
- Never EVER cast this if you're target has a backup on his sleeves, it may kill / counter you
- Dont also cast this if you're enemy is TPing, you may end up killed in the fountain
- Cast this if necessary especially, if you're enemy is alone
Golden Rule #3 : Barathrum must farm as possible as he can
Farming is the key to the sucess, the more you farm, the more kills you get. the reason for this is farming the items you really need, but in early game, you dont need much items to kill, but the real problem, how do you counter late game?, only one solution, Get the items, get the hell out of there, and kill anyone you see in your sight, here's some tips:
- Dont know how to farm easily?, here's a guide http://www.playdota.com/guides/advancing-your-lane-control (Find the section "Last-hitting")
- Note, get last-hitting items first, not the core items, last-hitting items such as earl game items like gauntlet, Quelling blade and Branch (look item builds) are better since you need to farm early / mid game
- Barathrum has empower haste, which also increases damage, now that's why you have to max it first, for better denying and farming
Golden Rule #4 : Barathrum is a ganker
ojay1998 said that mostly said Barathrum is a carry, but for himself, he said that Barathrum is a pure ganker. It's true, his skills are made for ganking, Here are some other reasons why he is called ganker and chaser:
- His nether strike is a powerful chasing / finishing skill which lets him to make another perma-bash at dying enemy
- His charge is a suprise attack skill with stun, which gives him an opportunity to start a perma-bash
- His Empower haste gives him damage to kill and movespeed to chase
- His Greater bash is an annoying perma-bashing skill
Golden Rule #5 : Barathrum is a DPSer
Obvious. period. if it's not obvious, then i will explain. Barathrum is made to be DPSer because of his high damage and high armor to resist against counter attacker, DPSing also synergizes with Greater bash. The bigger your attack speed, the bigger duration you perma-bash to your enemies. here are some options that goes in DPS:
- Attack speed
- Damage
- Skills that synergizes with DPS
8. HERO'S Hero SynergyBarathrum is not only a ganker, he is also a supporter who everyone relies to his stun do a perfect gank and combo against the enemies. (everyone mostly relies on his charge)

ConclusionSo as far as you red, Barathrum is a potent ganker with special skills to aid him in battles. know all that Barathrum's skills are made to chasing, and chasing is a part of a gank. note also that Barathrum sometimes relies to his items to increase his survivability and capability in doing gank and clashes. Barathrum's items mostly consist of Attack speed, movespeed and damage because it synergizes with his skills. Dont also underestimate his usefulness in support, all thanks to him and his stun perma-bash, barathrum can aid allies in team clashes, not only gank......
