NOOBISH-NOOB'S GUIDE TO TAUREN CHIEFTAIN
Introduction
Hello, this is my first guide concerning Tauren Chieftain, here I will be covering the usual way on how you should play Tauren Chieftain. Since this is my first guide, you may see errors as shown below that the pics won't appear
Here's the link to Tauren Chieftain's stats and skills explained in his hero tab right here:
Tauren Chieftain
I'll just explain how each of this skills works, and what you should do and don't:

ECHO STOMP
Has a 1.4 sec cast time, has a 350 AoE, 5 sec "disable". 145 Manacost and a 15 sec cooldown means you can't spam it all the time, plus the 80 damage each is pretty negligeble for farming, so use it wisely.
The unconscious part thing means that any nearby enemies gets disabled for 2/3/4/5 seconds. During the duration, if any enemy receives player-based damage of any sort, the disable is removed.
Good thing about this is that your creeps can still hit it freely for the duration including towers. Imagine successfully casting this on a chaser, and gets barraged by creep and tower blows = free kill
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is not a good thing to cast this in front of an enemy or any team with a disable ready in hand, as the 1.4 sec cast time is an opportunity for enemies to disable you and ruin a potential kill and makes you a sitting duck for 15 seconds.
Plus your team needs to know this skill since if anyone of them hits an unconscious enemy, worse, cleave/AoE them all, then pretty much screws your combo, so warn them firsthand.

ANCESTRAL SPIRIT
It has a huge cast range, so abuse it.
Good thing to do when using this skill for doing a combo is:
- Cast it behind an enemy, since he's focusing the battle in front of him, and not on his back and immediately cast Echo Stomp. And if they do notice, most players do will back, making them go to the center of the spirit and ensuring a big disable.
- The 120/160/200/240 Damage is pretty powerful if you ask me, plus the damage boost per struck hero/creep is pretty useful to easily chop their HP to bits, and the MS boost is also good.
- When using it, it's a good idea to hit at least 2 heroes at once since it quickly provides +80 Damage and +10% MS when the spirit returns, add some creeps then you're already dealing 100+ damage a swing at level 5-7.

NATURAL ORDER
The imba aura, seriously, getting 0 armor and 0% magic resistance makes it look like all nearby units receives pure damage.
But take note that its only 250 AoE range. But from what I know, his Spirit also has Natural Order

EARTH SPLITTER
The most deadly of all team destroying skill which TC can do it much alone.
35% MAX HP Damage, means that 35% and below are pretty much dead when struck with this skill, if they do survive, they still have the maim debuff which lasts for a short time, but more than enough for TC and his team to finish the job.

SKILL BUILD
Level 1, 3, 5, 7 - Ancestral Spirit

Level 2, 4, 8, 9 - Echo Stomp
Level 6, 11, 16 - Earth Splitter
Level 12,13,14,15 - Natural Order
- Ancestral Spirit should be leveled up first for your main nuke as well as the early IMBA damage and MS boost.
- Echo Stomp is leveled max next since it only does is to add an additional second of disable.
- Earth Splitter whenever possible, then Natural Order, then stats last. Each skill is too good to pass for stats.

THE USUAL SKILL COMBO
- Cast Ancestral Spirit at the back of an enemy.
- Immediately cast Echo Stomp
- If he gets hit, quickly cast Earth Splitter
- Get close to him, and anticipate the 3 sec cast time
- When Earth Splitter almost finishes, attack
- Enemy mostly will get hit for 35% of its MAX HP and maimed for 3/4/5 seconds, use that time to whack him to death.
* If the maim wears off, and he's still standing with red health, just chase him thanks to your MS boost, then use Ancestral Spirit in front of him to finish, if you still have mana left.
* This combo would also work wonders when you have teammates around given that: YOU DO YOUR COMBO FIRST WITHOUT THEM INTERRUPTING YOUR ECHO STOMP

MY USUAL CORE BUILD
- TC has very shitty mana pool with expensive manacost skills, Bottle solves most of his mana problem early game.
- Treads is a good item for TC since it gives him a good AS throughout the game, which helps maximizing his DPS thanks to DMG boost from Ancestral Spirit
OR
- This is also viable when you do your combo since it helps you get to your dying target without a hassle.
x2 - I usually get this when I'm going Phase boots since it gives good add'tl hp to survive an additional nuke.
OR
x2 - When I'm going Treads build, the extra manapool really helps you a lot when Bottle isn't enough.
- No brainer here.

VIABLE ITEMS AFTERWARDS![]()
- If you can afford this during your laning phase, it is highly recommended that you get a BoT than Treads or Phase Boots, the unlimited TP is too much to pass up.![]()

- I don't really recommend it as much since it gives so much mana regen that you don't need, but it gives good synergy with your combo, Ancestral Spirit, Echo Tomp, Earth Splitter, then Soul Burn right before your ulti activates to abuse the 20% amplify damage with the 35% max hp dmg. Plus Silence makes sure your enemy doesn't blink away, disable you...
![]()
- Gives additional damage plus DMG boost from Ancestral Spirit which gives you heavy dmg most of the time, couple it up with Earth Splitter joining enemies together and slowing them, it maximizes your cleaving pwer by a huge lot. The hp and mp regen really helps also.
![]()
- If you want to carry, then this would really help a lot, do your usual combo, when Earth Splitter activates, activate Armlet and whack at the nearest and weakest hero to death. Although you need some HP boost/regen or lifesteal to make this last longer.
![]()
-Every tanks favorite item, the huge 1k hp boost as well as the 1% regen coupled with your already big strength and gain really helps you stay longer.
![]()
- A very good late game item for TC. Since Natural Order depletes everything to 0%, all enemies will surely receive -5 Armor at all times, add some more -armor from your teammates skills/items and they quickly fall down like paper.

- I've been testing this and it's quite great. The manapool you receive helps you cast more spells before going back to base, and the AoE slow is more than welcome for synergy with either Echo Stomp or Earth Splitter.

![]()
- Linken makes sure any kind of disable keeps you from casting that Echo Stomp. Plus, its a good source of hp and mp regen.

REJECTED ITEMS

![]()
- Some people say blink is good for those surprise Echo Stomps, but for me... no. Why? Because blinking in and using Echo Stomp will make you very, very vulnerable to an incoming disable right away. Ancestral Spirit does the initiation for you, while you're safely casting it far away from disables.

GOTTA LOVE TEAMMATES

![]()
- Echo Stomp of 5 seconds dissable ensures a free 5 second Illuminate. Chakra also helps regen your mana back.
![]()
- A well placed Vacuum right before you Echo Stomp makes sure everyone is stunned while you get a good position for an Earth Splitter. Just make sure to tell Dark Seer to not cast Ion Shell on either of you until Earth Splitter activates. Surge also helps you in chasing down a dying hero. Plus, an extra illusion of TC with Natural Order is badass.
![]()
-Burrowstrike, then Echo stomp = A Free, uninterrupted Epicenter, follow it up with an Earth Splitter = dead
![]()
-Similar with Crixalis, free, uninterrupted Requiem

* These are just few of the many possible hero combinations that can help Tauren Chieftain.

HATE 'EM, HATE 'EM, HATE 'EM

![]()
- Mana Burn screws you over and over without any Bottle, and thanks to your shitty manapool, a single Mana Burn destroys your combo by saying: " Not enough mana.", doesn't that piss you???
![]()
-Same as above. Plus, Blink makes your combo look silly.

* There are still possible counters to TC, so watch out for them...

This is just one of the yet many possible ways in playing Tauren Chiefatin, there are still many ways in playing him, so I'm just trying out every hero with him and find out new ways.
Also, this is open to your suggestions, critics and comments. So don't be shy in saying what you want. Besides, this is my personal point of view of TC, obviously, you have your own ways in doing your own techniques.
