Invisibility

Invisibility is the state of a hero that prevents it from appearing on the opponent’s screen or minimap, this can be achieved by several skills .

  • Windwalk

This skill’s main characteristic is the fact that it lets you walk through other units, even during the fade time, it also doesn’t interrupt any current orders, but it can’t be queued. It should also be noted that the attack that breaks out of Windwalk is considered a buff placer on ranged heroes and that it breaks up after the cast time of any spell.

  • Targeted Invisibility

The two skills that use this (Sandstorm, Nature's guise) share the same characteristics, they disable the unit autoattacking abilities and keep the unit’s pathing regarding other units.

  • Permanent Invisibility

Units that are under the effects of permanent invisibility will not try to autoattack nearby targets, also their pathing regarding other units remains unchanged, Permanent Invisibility is revealed by silence and pausing, the aforementioned and hex prevent the unit from fading again during their effects

  • Special

Invisibility Rune follows the same rules as targeted invisibility, even if it comes from “Item Temporary Invisiblity”
Phase Shift was originally an invisibility skill, but in DotA it also provides invulnerability.

Spells with projectiles can be dodged by going invisible before they hit your  unit, even if the Invisibility expires before the projectile reaches you, this is, of course, only if the enemy can't see you for that small duration.

Revealing

  • A unit hit by Ensnare or Entangle that activates any form of invis will not pass the fade time phase.
  • Charge of Darkness (as long as the target is being charged), Strygwyr's Thirst and Assassinate will let you see the target on the minimap if he goes invisible, however you will not be able to directly target them, autoattacking or move-attack to their relative position will result in a normal attack.
  • Skills based on Faerie Fire (Track, Amplify Damage) will reveal the target unit if it goes invisible

Area of Effect Spells

Some spells that can target certain area will damage or provide their effects to Invisible units.
