Fountains are the regeneration centers for heroes in DotA. “Fountain” is the general name that both the Well of Life and the Defiled Fountain of Life receive, they are the most powerful structures in DotA.
The fountains are immune to almost all active skills and only a few passives affect them (Vladmir's Offering's Lifesteal being one of those).
Well Of Life
Defiled Fountain of Life
The fountains are located in the respawn area on each side, they were made to provide a “safe” spot on the map, and to provide with some regeneration to speed up the flow of the game.
The fountains deal 190-199 physical damage and have 800 range, their vision range is the same both during the day and night.
It should be noted that the mana and HP regeneration provided by the fountains is percentage based, (4% per second) and as such they don’t take longer to heal a hero with higher maximum life than others. However, there is an added Mana regeneration ability that restores 14 Mana points per second, and therefore dropping items that provide Mana speeds up the process.
Bottles that are not full will be automatically refilled when you are near the fountain.
